Let me ask you this: how many airplanes have been hijacked using knives?
What people have done in the past was strap a bomb to their chest, or get a gun of any kind that allows to depressurise the cabin. Then they made their demands.
Knives don't depressurize cabins. Worst anyone can do with a knife is, well....put it to someones' throat, and try to make their demands now. After which they'll be lying on the ground covered by about 5 nearby passengers.
I'm all for screening for items that CAN bring an airplane down. What I am completely against is bullshit tactics that are employed right now, that don't allow to bring a nailclipper onboard.

What.....I can't bring my 1.5" swiss army knife on board? "Sir, please don't give me an attitude, or we'll have to step aside for a search" (actually happened).
Those who want to hijack a plane, can do so with things that CAN be brought onboard. Hell......I even think someone could simply grab a soda can from the stuardess (I don't care what they like to be called), rip it with their teeth, and voila....sharp instrument that can be put to someones' throat.
I think nowdays even if someone does have a knife on the plane and tries to take a person hostage, they'll be tackled by passengers. Everyone's seen what happens to them if they don't do anything.
We should still screen for bombs made deliberately, that have enough power to bring down an airplane. But please stop with the madness of searching everybody including little old ladies and 2yo kids.

I've compared the stories on CNN to the Pravda. It is rather interesting to see how CNN feeds news to the US public (CNN correspondents were advised to constantly remind the viewers that "We are doing this to the country that harbors terrirists" when they would show a 1-2 second shot of hospital full of children wounded in the bomb attack). I guess what I am getting at is that US news machine is now in full gear, providing the "happy" details of the war to the people who are affected by it, and not giving the full detail, and if Chinise gov't would actually provide news coverage thats better than CNN, then Chinese would be better off.

Rune is great, but there are some serious issues with the Linux version. Namely:
Game requires 512M of ram+swap to start. If you dont have that much dedicated for the game itself (dont forget to add on the RAM requirements for Linux itself), it'll kill your system at level transitions/whenever kernel can catch up to the allocations.
It is running piss slow on P3 450M system with 680M of ram (even on the 800x600 res).
These are my two main concerns with it, not to mention the fact that Loki only acknowledged the NEW ram requirements after a bunch of people expressed their concern in the mailing groups.

Now.....do we really want more old ladies driving around in their big caddilacs doing 30 mph, no matter how inspiring they might be to their sublings? When your time comes....well, better accept it. I agree that some people do need to be cloned. Steve Hawking, for one (although from the point of genetics, we are all average people, and those remarkable individuals like him in our society have to pay with their physical abilities for their mental abilities. And vise versa.) Of course, this produces a big question of "Am I worth saving?". And I am not touching that one with a sixty-feet pole.
