That is, the Chinese question actually asks you to do mathematics, as opposed to reciting facts about it.
Solve a 1000000 similar problems and it no longer has anything to do with mathematics, you just apply the procedure without even thinking. Entrance exams are flawed, it measures dedication more than anything.

Ask a Chinese student proficient in solving these types of math problems what he/she thinks about art, the answer will be a blank look. Now go to the British Museum and watch the interaction between teachers and students as they analyize a painting.

I'll take the British education system over the Chinese.

I don't think any company wants to downsize. They would rather continuously grow. However a point comes where the company says to its employee(s): "look I can't use you efficiently, I'm paying you and getting enough out of it. You should work somewhere else, where you earn what you make".

Or you can think of it this way: they shouldn't of hired you in the first place.

Yes, but if you talk to a lawyer about this they will tell you NOT to comment on bad behavior. Watching your step when you are not a lawyer is dangerous..

My wife had some problems with one of her employees, her lawyer told her the only thing she should say as a reference is that "such and such employee worked for me from this date to this date". Also I would hope the other side would get the clue when you say "I really cannot comment on this matter".
