    Actually, that makes me wonder what kinda of bandwidth you could realistically expect.

    With a few Terabytes of literature, some games, and the ability to give new content to the astronaut, you can fill someones time very easily, better yet if the person is a creative type. The best part is, companies would shovel free stuff your way. So all the royalties from "Memoirs from the inside of a tin can hurtling through space : I didn't lose my mind till after i finished the book" would just keep piling up.

    Does Intel, or the GPU makers besides Nvidia/ATI, even make a Workstation card capable of the high end 3d modeling?

    If they don't then yes we do care, because people need these cards to do their jobs, regardless of how much they want open source drivers.

    I think workstation cards have more memory typically and some optimizations. If you want to make the best and most accurate immage, yeah get the work station card.

    I think it works like this.

    Game cards are designed to render stuff as fast as possible, many times a second.

    Workstation cards are designed to render everything in the desired quality, and take as long as it needs.

    Really? I don't enjoy seeing animals in pain, well no more than I enjoy one of my friends in pain, but I'll be damned if a small woodland creature twitching on the ground wouldn't be funny.

    I'm advocating that they make a virus that will allow more research to be done to the modified virus, stuff found in that research can be applied to the real virus. Also, I'm pretty sure that if you can make a virus for a species very similar to ours, its probably getting you a hell of a lot closer to making one for our species.

    Oh, and of course they still have the standard things they do to make sure something actually works.

    You know what the best part of all of this is? When they use the real virus, they still use monkeys and other small cute fuzzy animals that we all love and want to stop the suffering of.

    I don't think it had a big issue with crossing species in the first place. In fact I'm pretty sure it killed humans and all the standard lab animals when they first found and captured it.

    It depends, are we doing the virological equivalent of replacing missing genes with the genes of a creature that can change genders in a single gender environment.
