Linuzz people had natural dislike for poor products. First version of Kylix was epitaph of "How not to do applications for linux" - Only crowd it had any effect in my eyes was windows programmers who didnt know anything about linux programming and wanted kylix to lower the learning curve. And it did poor job in that.
Shitty product. FPC project and their gui ide is shitloads better product even thou it might even still be beta/alpha quality..
If you really think that "It was supposed to impress you", you where not the person to understand my point. Few issues with your reply: Fanboy mentality, and erm.. Fanboy mentality.
Yes, the feared roll back. Alot of those still happened during the time i spent to suck of evercrack. But they got better and later on, i dont remember any rollbacks happening and also, they didnt bother me... But lets think about this. So, Verant did that as their first big mmorpg ? And they had the biggest crowd playing at one point, yet i dont *ever* remember *weekly* scheduled downtimes that never held the promised eta's anyway.
Ofcourse there where downtimes and servers crashing and what not, maybe they would have had things abit more under control if they would have had weekly downtimes, who knows.. But Blizzard has those, they are annoying even if they dont affect me for the most part, i would think that with all the experience in making games, making Online games blizzard has, having continuous system would be archievable. And the expertise of running such huge systems has increased over the time. Its not like one has to re-invent the friggin wheel everytime someone wants to make a mmorpg..
So, i say, not giving my thumbs up for blizzard for one detail, downtime.. And to sooth your obvious fanboy mentality, i dig wow. its nice, i play it alot but go sod of somewhere else flaming people for having 1 bad word about the crown jewel..
Ok, let me explain my pov first. I've played MMORPG's since Ruins Of Kunark release (first expansion to Everquest 1).. Since then i've played Eq2, Uo, Daoc, AO, SWG, many betas - same games which never came out, some that did. Basicly i've have had subscription to some mmorpg spanning for a quite a long time and, to wow, since its release in europe.
And i have to say one thing.
BLIZZARD AND THEIR PATCH ETA'S ARE HUGE JOKE! Content patches, no matter what they promise, the servers are never ever ever back online when i get back home from work and i live on +2h timezone from servertime. Also, they promise one eta and then 1-1.5 hours later after that said eta (well, its not estimated for no reason, but still) they inform that there's new eta but they cannot promise anything and then list few servers that are affected. Which is nice. But would be better if they just would include all the servers because, if something goes fscked up, all the "up" servers are equally fscked up because of the server loads or something else.
So, if this actually works. Yey for blizzard. but in the meantime, i wont be holding my breath for servers to come back online...
Agree to fullest. I dont understand why foreskin needs to be removed if there aint no medical or religious reasons but it hasnt caused me any harm at all *ever* - only positive. My wife says its cuter than those with one =)
While i understand that this post will be read by noone because im not writing this to the topic thats still hot, i'd like to share my experiences.
*Gmail* Looses Forwarded Mails. Sometimes.
I have my domain thats *now* being hosted in gmail. At one point when my domain was not in use due to outtake on my internet connection, i started to use regular gmail xyz.zxy@gmail.com, about 6 months later, my domain was "accepted" to the beta phase of gmail for your own domains. As i was allready so used to that account and had all my calendar there, i just forward all my mail from my own domain to regular gmail account - and *alot* of messages never reach from One gmail account (hosted) to Another Gmail account (normal gmail). All the messages are visible ofcourse where they first come into the system but they are never delivered to the main account where im supposed to read'em.
Fine and Helpfull bloke. I've used many irc networks since i started to irc, back in '94 and i couldnt name a single person behind any of the networks (even thou many of my cow-orkers where ircops in IRCNet) beside Lilo. Thanks for providing the best network.

I was one of the implementation crew for small noc (about 7 people incl. managers) and approx 150 machines in various locations..
I reviewed quite a lot of free software and while most of them where looking quite nice (nagios/bigbrother/etc.), allmost all of them where filled with features that where really not essential just for "monitor the healt of the system" so i ended up with mon.
Mon, for me was really the "unix way" of creating stuff, make things easy/simple and extend it with other tools..
The generic layout we used was net-snmp on client hosts either being polled in intervals or sending traps to the main machines.
Indeed, im also one of those that thinks "kde feels funny". Ofcourse i know i can tweak the shit out of it but, mm. why should i ?
I'll just use gnome or instal xfce (gtk widgets just do look better to me)

Good admin would have configured mysql/apache/middletier in a way that a) apache rejects excessive requests b) middletier doesnt clog up the mysql connections c) mysql would only allow certain amount of concurrent requests d) all of the above.
Stuff like above happens when someone just drops prebuild binaries with default configuration to the box and starts to host a website.
Finnish media reported that the UN Observers where bombed for *hours* and they where calling their own representatives and israeli fire lead to stop the bombing because the bombs where getting very close to the observation post. Had few beers but if i remember right, the bombings start around 13:30 finnish time and OP went quiet around 19:15 when the made direct hit into the bunker where the 3 un personnel where located. All the pleas where replied by "Yes, we will stop the bombarding" but it didnt happen.

Just my opinion: Anything hacked to run on linux with winelips aint Quality Software that Linux Requires.
And no, this is not a flame bait, try it - how well does it blend with your desktop environment.
I used to work in company that produced software for pharmacies. One of the last assignments in the job, we migrated the whole damn thing from SCO+Ingres 6.4 to Linux running Ingres II. The transition was really smooth - i'd say that the most work was caused by the fact that we had to rewrite some ksh scripts to bash .
Also, i'd like to point that even thou im really really not a fanboy of sco software, the administration of then sco openserver machines was really easy.
Ack, maybe you where referring to the actual journal entry i had IN my journal. That was posted years ago which is totally irrelevant to this case where i actually trolled.
Btw, i was referring to meatball by faggot. http://www.hellward.dsl.pipex.com/Faggots2.jpg
Modded a troll ? Maybe because i *was* trolling. Do you think that i was *not* flaming the op ? =)
But to tell you how ironic i am, i really never disabled comments in the journal, i didnt even know there was such feature. I guess i need to enable them.
Hobby OS which is design ground for ENTERPRISE Linux ? Somehow i dont get that..
I've also allways thought that debian is used mainly by faggots and lazy bastards who dont have mental capability to learn new features so they dont upgrade their software.
Dont let me even start on Ubuntu.
Oh and by the way, the moderators might thing im just flaming, which i am but they really suck and are just debian/ubuntu fanboys so i dont care.
Same goes viceverse. There are certain phones that never reach the market outside US since they are "operator phones". Danger Inc's Hiptop would be one example of them...
As the another poster said, wednesday is maintenance day and typically, when the servers are down - forums are down..
Anyhow, i've read the post, maybe not this one but i've read exactly the same content where one user was request information if his logitech keyboard and use of it was against eula or not and blue poster responded that it was ok to use it.

What is said post above, and his/her post is modded as a troll makes one wonder how true his comment really is.
Name of the finnish officer was published today.
