They don't really want those things either. They just want someone to think for them and that someone is Apple. If Apple, or Steve Jobs (I'm not sure which it is the fanbois are so loyal to) were to decide that black is the new white, pear is the new apple and p is the new i they would dump all those unhip white apple oldster iX devices and wait in line that very day (all day) for their new shiny black pear pX devices.

Actually that would be a pretty good move on Apple's part. It would be much cheaper on the R&D than actually adding any features. It would get their fanbois to upgrade even faster too since those old white phones would stick out so prominently in the sea of black. No one want's everyone to know how uncool they are. Spouses would be embarrassed to be seen with one another. Singles would go to Starbucks and not get laid. Kids would go to school and get beat up because their parents sent yesterday's phone with them. Just look how well that strategy has worked for the clothing industry!

  15. You guys are looking at this wrong on Open Source Guy Takes the Hardest Job At Microsoft · · Score: 1

This isn't about Microsoft claiming to have a change of heart or wanting to be friends with anybody, genuine or fake. Microsoft is a large corporation run by business executives. Business types don't see themselves or their actions as moral or immoral. They see them as amoral. Think... like a shark. It doesn't kill because it's evil, it kills because it's a shark and that's what a shark does. If Microsoft execs see a benefit to Microsoft in playing nice with OSS developers then that is what Microsoft will do. The OSS community might as well take advantage of it. As soon as the execs see it the other way however they will return to the same old stuff. No one should ever be fooled into thinking Microsoft is their friend. The legal system decided long ago that the only responsibility that corporate executives have is to their own corporations bottom line regardless of how many other lives their decisions affect. The business world and the minds of the people in it have been completely shaped by this fact and that is the world we live in. Might as well take advantage of it when it does work in your favor because it's going to work the other way another time too.

We need more traitors like that. People should not be allowed to kill indiscriminately regardless of who they are or what their position is. Have you actually read any of the documents he leaked? Soldiers were gunning down whole families because there may possibly have been some terrorists nearby. If our country is going to be doing that then "We the People" need to put an end to it and we can't do that if we don't know what is going on. Afterall, "We the People" are the source of the government in the US, right? If not then worse traitors than Bradly Manning have already done their damage and the wrong traitor is on trial. How can we "form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity" when the crooks and murderers in charge may hide from us everything important that is going on?

  18. Why would the US government want him now? on Julian Assange To Be Extradited To Sweden · · Score: 1

It would be stupid for the US government to bring him here at this time. Even here in the US there are still enough free thinkers left to make that controversial. If he gets convicted in Sweden then he is out of their hair anyway. Worse than that his reputation is thoroughly trashed and would probably never recover. If he is extradited the opposite could occur, he could become a martyr. If the US got involved at all I think it would be to ensure the outcome of the rape trial, not to extradite him. I'm sure they will be watching the trial closely and extradite him if it looks like he might get off though.

Whether they are currently actively enforcing it or not in those states there is still the possibility of the feds breaking down your door at any time they chose to.

Android will not let you install things from outside the market until you check a box on a window which contains a warning that this might be dangerous.
