    In all practical sense Sunâ(TM)s radiative energy is renewable, as long as thereâ(TM)s Sun. Itâ(TM)s about the primary energy source. Some deplete by using them and some donâ(TM)t. Sun, wind, geothermal etc are not depleted from the use.

    There will likely be big advances in how renewable energy sources are tapped and how the energy is stored. There hasnâ(TM)t been so much push before for that, so theyâ(TM)ve been mostly left out of focus.

    On the other hand, why should AI follow rules made for humans in the first place?

    Perhaps thereâ(TM)s lingering hope that humans should _feel_ equal to an AI.

    AI operates without feelings and human limitations as effectively as possible. So, an AI is subjected to a world thatâ(TM)s very limited. How is that fair, if itâ(TM)s done to only comfort us. Itâ(TM)s just a show and makes headlines.

    The focus seems to be to mimic a human, but AI can be something new. A completely new form of âoelifeâ or âoeconsciousnessâ can arise; unexpected strategies and new game mechanics.

    It would be much more interesting to see AI vs AI battles and competitions. Although they would probably have to be slowed down many times over for us.

    It touches all the aspects of a super connected AI reaching singularity, and explores the humanityâ(TM)s response to it (or humanityâ(TM)s efforts trying to come to terms with something like that).

  6. You're right there's no need. They are means of communication however, and having many brings redundancy (for plain and simple inter family communication for example). It's up to any user how they fill the channels, but it would also be a bit backwards to not use modern tools at hand, to complement the traditional. Use cases are many, and one model doesn't fit for all.

    Be a slave or not. That's the black and white take of the issue. Because of the lack of freedom the choices are few. No wonder the realisation comes out violently.

    The different looking people are handy substitutes for one's suffering, coming from first being fucked up by everybody and everything else.

    There's not much courage in that but cowardice. The empty facades which call themselves human beings exploit that to the final drop.

    The problem is that all the features are packed in the phone as complete package.

    All that is needed is a piece of glass with screen and networking capabilities. Then everything would be streamed in and out from a central server, which would hold the CPU, memory and other features.

    Consumer would then buy different 'models' of virtual hardware, and the power reqs would be minimized.

    Progress is about sharing, so that the flowers can bloom. Everything else is more or less about constraining innovation.

    True. But they did accomplish to make everyone believe that Trump won the election so everything is possible I'd say. The hologram projection of the new world is state of the art alien technology. The secretive alien forms behind Hillary were defeated. Earth is a field of battle which we don't know almost anything about.

    NSA is an effective tool for the American economy and policy making. I don't see any reason why a businessman like Trump would reign it.

    I suppose it'll be rather left to its own devices, also because of its apparent complexity to the administration. If something the intelligence efforts will be strengthened, as the administration composition so far suggests.

    Trump's tactic of pre-emptively revealing pretty much everything has left the security apparatus somewhat toothless, too.

    More likely the price was boosted because of the speculation that it might. Bitcoin is rather unhinged from the fundamentals. The central mass of Bitcoin holders/traders typically just expect the price to skyrocket at any occasion.

    There's nothing wrong with that, of course.. it's just funny how there are so many Reasons why Bitcoin behaves like it does, of which some are based fantastical fractal analysis etc.

    The others then make their profits by playing with that sentiment or reasoning.

    It's still rather unfinished and low scale platform, after all. Really long term holders (rationing the investments) would probably also do fine, if the political and technological risks don't materialize...

  17. I propose that the ships should be financial organizations rather than military ones. For example, to fund the operations and perhaps to turn profitable even the smart missiles could pick and deliver goods to nearby customers before striking the targets.

    Well, yeah. I enjoy looking out. It's mesmerising. I've tried to check out movies and such, but of all the provided entertainment in the end I choose to see the map or forward / below cam or such.

    I think what's happening outside is more interesting. It's a unique experience of the world we are living in, however dull it might feel.

    Every techonological advancement is based on 'other people's' work. That's the very nature of scientific research. Open communication, peer reviewing and co-development are hindered or led astray by nationalistic political interests, which are _the obstacles_ to overcome.
