  1. Blizzard is screwed either way. on Square and Blizzard Drop The Banhammer · · Score: 2, Interesting

More people are abandoning the game not because of the inflation because you can't even buy the good armor but because its getting way too tedious. They are restructuring the dungeons so now instead of bosses dropping loot they will drop "tokens" which you can turn into loot. But they don't drop enough for 1 person to make 1 item. So you'll have to have every character if every class run through dungeons for much longer without seeing a return on their time spent. ZG and AQ are like this but they are making EVERY raid instance token based. And I won't even get into the China farmed PvP rating nonsense that went on. The problem is that Blizzard is making advancement past 60 so ridiculous that you either have to be pissed slaving away for hours or just give up.

Why is the PS3 so expensive when it includes a non-custom Cell Processor with only 1 General Purpose CPU and a non-custom Geforce 7900 512 with 256 megs of ram chopped off? Versus a Xbox 360 with 3 Cores each equal to the General Purpose CPU of the PS3 and a custom designed unified shader graphics solution with embedded ram with console gaming in mind? I just can't understand all the people wandering around claiming the PS3 is twice as powerful as a Xbox360. Just because they're waiting longer to release their console and adding Blu-Ray Sony is just pulling arbitrary stats out and tossing them around since nobody has the actual hardware to look at. Or they might try the "Hey look its more expensive therefore it must be better!" angle which works well in America.

The only reason this might be interesting would be to make the system quieter so people with slow net connections could download demos overnight with the new Queue feature. The overheating problem was the power supply and it was only a specific run of power supplies that would overhead when people wedged them behind their entertainment centers on carpet or sat TVs on them. There will always be a group of people that void their warranties on principle.

  8. PS3 most powerful? on Why Sony is Ready to Self Destruct · · Score: 1

Ok I've been reading that the PS3 is more powerful than an Xbox 360, I'm not sure how that is I mean yeah the cell processor has the 7 SPEs but aren't they next to useless for game processing? Also the GFX card in it is just a current gen 7900GTX 512 without the 512 its only 256. The Xbox360 has on the other hand 3 Full Processors equal to the general processor of the Cell chip, and a unified shader GFX solution than also has embedded ram all its own separate from the system that operates at very high speed. Not to mention the Blu-ray reader on the PS3 is reads almost half as many megabytes per second as the DVD player on Xbox360. So if I'm missing some super piece of hardware thats supposed to just make the PS3 the end all could someone let me know.
