    What would be even better is to post patient outcomes and cost v comparable hospitals in places which don't have profit driven health systems.
    Like that would ever happen. Turns out the US health system is a giant machine built to funnel money from taxpayers into shareholders pockets.

    You completely misunderstood the point of the article, and have it back to front:
    This is the FISA court refusing government surveillance orders. The implication is that the current regime is asking for things they shouldn't get.

    Obama refused 21

    21 orders between when the court was first formed in 1978 and President Barack Obama's final year in office in 2016.

    That quote is from TFA, you should read it.

    A secretive Washington DC-based court that oversees the US government's foreign spy programs denied more surveillance orders during President Donald Trump's first year than in the court's 40-year history, according to newly released figures.

    That is also from TFA, first sentence.
    Let's not pretend that secret courts are a good idea however.

    The bit that I thought was odd:

    Potentially, I suppose. If those allied countries agree, but plenty of those US allies are wary of the US' courts overreach.
    Not my country though, if the CIA tell my government to jump they ask "how high?".

    If a civilization of intelligent, tool making dinosaurs evolved over 2 or 3 million years starting something like 113 million years ago we might have no way of ever finding their remains.
    110 million years ago a dinosaur species with opposable thumbs and binocular vision begins to make stone tools.
    109.5 million years ago discover agriculture
    109.4 million years ago extensive city building, beginnings of metal use.
    109.3 million years ago civilization wiped out due to climate change, or war, or any number of possible calamities.
    If this took place on what is now Antarctica anything that remained might be under 2 kilometres of ice, so hard to find.
    I know its just speculation, but the list above seems possible to me.

    This is an extremely American article.

    Everywhere else in the western world we have had EFT-POS (or similar) for about thirty years, and we use it.

    On a related note the number of Americans who talk about "checks" like it's still the 1960's amazes me.

    Having the customer pay the restaurant's staff through tips is just another way they can pretend they're all temporarily embarrassed millionaires.

    She reminds me a lot of Carly Fiorina, right place at the right time, but no real abilities which only comes to light when she was given a position of real responsibility.
    This "business incubator" is probably just something to give her a reason to leave the house each morning.
    If it loses the right amount of money each year I am sure there is some sort of accounting trick that can keep it going for a long time.
    Also, just like Carly, look for a political campaign of some kind, as that's great way to make money in the US.

    Not for the reason you've given.

    Usually they hate you because your government overthrew theirs, and made their lives even more miserable, or your military dropped bombs on their house and killed their children.

    Those of us who live in places not being bombed by Americans don't hate you, because we have met some of you and you're usually really nice people.

    We do look at your weird, corrupt, childishly petulant government however and hope we never do anything to piss them off.

    To be fair, the real problem you have is that you will wind up with the choice of a Democrat or a Republican. That is exactly the way the people really running the joint want it.

    My first thought was that the future has already been decided. The Republicans were desperate to appoint as many federal judges as they could, and these are the sorts of rulings they love making.

    To be fair, all the other TPP countries heaved a huge sigh of relief when Mr. Trump pulled the US out of the deal, as all the bits that were impossible to sell back home came from the US.
    From what I understand mostly around particularly harsh copyright nonsense. It's hard to know though, because of the secrecy surrounding the whole deal, as if the people involved were ashamed of it or something.

    I was going to make a snarky comment about installing LineageOS on it, but checked the device list and cannot see the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 listed, which seems odd.
    A real shame, as that is probably a perfectly usable device.
