How much time must MS devote to a single application before they release it? You can't reasonably expect that they look at every line of code and use the program for weeks before accepting it. The Washington Post wrote that many people believe this 3rd party app to be an email program: http://voices.washingtonpost.com/fasterforward/2011/01/microsoft_ids_wp7_third-party.html
The only function of an email program is to send and receive data. I'm sure that in their testing they made sure it did what it said it did. The small amount of data that might have been sent during testing was likely masked by the actual tests (if they were even done at all...I'm not a tester).
If you truly believe that developing for low end hardware is what's killing the FF series I can't help you. FF has deviated from its original intent into a cashcow. It's no wonder the quality has been lacking.
I think I'm also lost. It could be that I've never existed since I don't have a blog nor do I have a twitter account. I was last spotted making a post on/.
*update* I have now been seen logging into my Steam account and playing CS:S.
You can't just lay this all on L-M. For all we know, NASA gave L-M a spec that they fulfilled. It's up to the original engineers to know the nominal strength and then design in the usual safety margin. The fact that they were able to pull up records right now showing a lower quality material was used tells me that *someone* looked at it and signed off that it met whatever requirements were applicable at the time. It's not like NASA doesn't have a Quality Assurance program.
From Wikipedia (which agrees with my military background) Unclassified Technically not a classification level, but is used for government documents that do not have a classification listed above. Such documents can sometimes be viewed by those without security clearance.
This document is at the same level as a menu from the kitchen of the White House. Show me documents with Noforn or better and then I'll be concerned.
That's my predicament exactly. I have 3 choices. Dialup, wireless internet (at 600 Mb a day), and satellite (at ~600 Mb a day/17 Gb/mo). Any way you look at it, I don't really have a choice. There is no free market to speak of. The only reason I have the wireless ISP option is that a guy that does wireless ISP for a living happens to live in my area and he wanted it for his house.
The only light I have (at the end of my tunnel) is that the town I live in is actually pursuing a local fiber rollout to the community. The initial rollout is really just to local businesses and those within 500 ft of the rollout area. Unfortunately I'm about 1000ft away. This will, at least, cause some competition between the new ISP and my current ISP. Most communitites in my area don't have this option.
If you exceed the speed limit while attempting to stop a criminal, you're still breaking the law. If it was tried in a court of law, it would likely be dismissed as long as your intentions were "good".
So, substitute Pentagon Papers in for speeding. Somewhere along the lines, someone broke the law by disseminating information that was not theirs to release.
You point out yourself that the US Supreme Court made a ruling about the papers. Just because a precedent was already set doesn't mean that everything that happened in the Wikileaks disclosure is free and clear. Let's use the Pentagon Papers as an example.
"I felt that as an American citizen, as a responsible citizen, I could no longer cooperate in concealing this information from the American public. I did this clearly at my own jeopardy and I am prepared to answer to all the consequences of this decision." — Ellsberg on why he released the Pentagon Papers to the press.
Let the government figure out if laws were broken. Let the courts decide what, if any, punishments are in order.
Which authorities do you speak of? Could you give specific names? Do you have any name of any person that is currently in prison at the behest of an authority for exposing something?
As far as your second statement, yes it's ok. As long as they are within the boundaries as set in the law there is no problem.
The real problem is that people don't understand the boundaries of the laws. Since your last statement points to the fact that you are not a US citizen, you likely have little or no knowledge of our laws. Anything I say further only deviates from this discussion, so I'll leave it at that.
Nobody has stopped freedom of speech. The subpoena is used to determine if a crime has occurred. Nobody has been charged with anything. I'd recommend a different action than "getting the hell out". Get elected and change the laws.
How does Twitter being served a subpoena suspend anyone's civil liberties? While it's true that you're allowed to say anything you want, it is another matter when crimes have been committed. A subpoena could expose those crimes. Please notice I said "could" and not "will". Just because you happen to agree with what Wikileaks does, doesn't mean that some people connected with Wikileaks haven't committed any crimes as defined by US law.
It should be no surprise that if you use any services from companies owned by citizens of the US, your data is subject to scrutiny by US officials. As for the Icelandic official, they should have known that anything that they wrote using Twitter was being hosted in the US and that they have no control over it. Ignorance is never an excuse in matters of the law.
Why not maintain both? It's trivial to setup access through MS mail and Thunderbird. If you do use a mail client, there's no need to use their "shoddy" interface and they all look the same.
Almost makes me want to buy an iPhone or a Win 7 phone. Actually I don't want (nor do I own) any of these phones. Could someone just make a phone that I can dial numbers on to call someone? Thanks!
This is the same policy used in the US military. You're supposed to get people involved if you're too tired to do your job. This responsibility should be completely on the shoulders of the doctor to speak up. I think it's likely that some doctors have used a "sleep deprivation" excuse when being reviewed for a botched procedure. This seems like some bean counters are pushing for a way to reduce the hospital's liability in those matters.
In this case I think that "Throwing the baby out with the bathwater" is appropriate in describing exactly what is going on. The only difference is that there's a wet pedophile now standing outside the window with a baby to boot.
Find and punish the offenders, not the rest of society.
I actually have a story to go along with this. When my wife was pregnant with out 2nd child, she posted a sonogram of our daughter on her Facebook page. Someone actually reported the sonogram (all black and orange of course) because it contained a picture of her "naughty bits" with a line and the words "girl". If we want to continue down this slippery road, they'll find other things to block besides pornography to "protect" our children. How about we educate parents on how to both block content on their end while we also educate them how to talk to their children about subjects they deem sensitive? If this were to come to fruition, I can't even imagine what's next.
Yeah, you actually have to click on download from the page linked in the article to find out what it does. Even on their main website, you're presented with is a big download button without any explanation. http://www.dropbox.com/ You can watch a video (I didn't) that may enlighten you. If you follow the link in the article to their download page you get...
"Dropbox allows you to sync your files online and across your computers automatically.
Put your files into your Dropbox folder on one computer, and they'll automatically appear on any of your other computers that also have Dropbox installed (Windows, Mac, and Linux). You can even download Dropbox apps for your smartphone or mobile device (iPhone, iPad, Android, and Blackberry). Everything in your Dropbox is available from the Dropbox website, too. "

Not sure why this was modded funny. I also opt to skip the flu shot. My wife and kids still get them. She insisted on getting the H1N1 shot when it became available. She then contracted H1N1 despite the vaccination and I remained healthy and unaffected. It's not a difficult concept: feed your body what you need to stay healthy and it will (usually) take care of itself.
"Bejeebus mister Grok. We're out here starvin' and you're trying to fix a piece of string on a flimsy rod so you can what? Shoot projectiles at things?!? We already have a spear and it's worked so well for us. All those animals don't have spears! The best they have are horns! Harharhar Now come help me kill this stupid turkey."
And then you wonder why they'll be displaying Tampax advertising in your next issue of "I live in my parents basement" magazine.
If Apple wanted to really help you, they could do a lot more with the data they're already collecting and share it with everyone that's approved on their store. At least that might get relevant ads for you. I don't own anything made by Apple though, so feel free to mod me down as you see fit.
Because you know....I install every free plugin that I come across just to view pictures and stuff.
