i doubt it's karma based. my karma is crap (virtue of having 2 modded posts out of my 3 total so far...) and i've been using the system for quite a while too.
i do prefer this to the old "click a link and get a new page" system...it would be nice if it retained state after leaving a page (submitting a post or something) but of course i have no good suggestion on how to accomplish this.
a wire loop on each end would do the trick. if you wanted to get fancy you could drill a hole through the bar for a cotter pin or something, to keep the wire from slipping off easily.
or you could use curtain rod brackets to arrange the things on a wall.
there's a lot of ways out there to suspend/support a rod in such a way that both ends are fairly easily accessible.

I'd love to have a *GOOD* mystery game or something that challenges my brain rather than my dexterity. Nostalgia aside, the text adventures (sans terrible text parsing) is a good example in my opinion. Hell, put a GUI on it but figure out a way to give that great problem-solving feeling to it.
