Seconded. If his adaptation was terrible, because he is a terrible director, then, the books must have been 'terrible'.
Wasn't he supposed to direct a Halo film?:\
Good move on Bungie's part.
I can really see where they are coming with this.
Trying to reach out to all of the fans, hardcore to complete newcomer.
They tried this with Halo 2, also. Except that one came with 2 discs, and the bonus one was quite good. 4 discs should be just great.
Well, I wouldn't care about how long it took to get me the movie, as long as it wasn't horrible quality. I guess you could say I'm a little anal about the effort it would take to PrintScreen every frame v.s. beating encryption. Beating encryption would ensure better quality videos and it would get the movies out faster than the various frame by frame methods.
Of course, you're sacraficing quality. But you hit the nail on the head when you said that. It just wouldn't be worth it. Firstly, it would probably take a week. Secondly, Sound synchronization would prove to be hard to say the least, and finally, NOONE would want to do this. The 'time-spent: money-gained ratio' would be horrible.
Exactly. This is exactly why good news is so hard to come by. Too many sources have too much of a one-faced approach to the story, that the last few scentences make you feel like an idiot for not knowing anything about the story before reading it. (As opposed to laying down two solid sides to the argument.)
That's just incredible. I think it's amazing that people think that hardware is something so new to them, that they seem to purposely freeze and act like people that don't know ANYTHING about the device.
And the IT guys get the proverbial kick in the ass for it.
If you guys have been in the IT field as of late, how do you stop from laughing every time someone asks a dumb question?
I was cracking up whilst reading this. Especially at cracks like this:
Asking a lady to switch her printer off and on again because it wasn't responding at all. Whereupon she said "it's already off, do I need to switch it on before switching it off and on again?" to which I replied, "no switching something on is normally sufficient to allow it to work". This is not made up or anecdotal, I really had that conversation.
I watched the launch on CNN, and I have to say, it was very successful. Over the years, I probably haven't seen a cleaner launch than that.
It still amazes me that the shuttle can hit such speeds after such a geat time in the air.
RETURN HOME SAFELY, DISCOVERY!
You've just made a pretty strong argument for setting up an advance directive, or at least talking your wishes over with someone you trust. An advance directive is a very unpleasant document because it forces you to think unpleasant thoughts. (Do I want to receive nutrition and hydration, or would I rather die quicker of thirst?) But it does get the job done in the event you can't speak for yourself.
Is that a compliment? If so, thanks!
I've never really gotten just why fans want to disrupt movies by hearing the director's voice.
The last time I did that, Mel Gibson just ruined 'The Passion of the Christ.' Never again.
You were asking: "Never again what? Never again: watching a Mel Gibson movie, or listening to the directors cut?"
I'm not quite sure how much these guys get paid, but I can see people saying that Apple employees are not losing much of their annual salary by mishandled stock options.
A big wake up call to those people: They are!
It is just too unrealistic to think that an Apple employee will not set massive amounts of money into the stocks of the company. Exponentially, the money will decrease as the position in the company gets less and less important.
So, before you hit that submit button to make a comment about how much money Apple employees already have, remember that Steve is doing the best by making sure that the money lost turns into money gained.
Two Canadian stories in a row on yro.slashdot.org on July 4! We are changing the world together.
Maybe that is a good thing! Some of the things I have seen... The images are printed on the inside of my eyeballs.
And I, for one, would like to bring back a famous John Madden quote, modified to the slightest degree:
"Now, here's a blind guy, and when he puts in his chip covered with 5,000 microphotodiodes, he can see better."
I see where you are coming.
;)
But was King Kong bad? Even though it wasn't a book, I'm sure you have an opinion on the film that Peter Jackson directed.
This may just be a differience in opinion.
and require satellite and internet broadcasters to use 'technology to prevent music theft'.
How is this going to work? Broadcast music in such a manner that a home tape recorder, Windows Sound Recorder or Audacity will not pick it up?
Sounds like they have a little hurdle on their hands.

Forget about beer! Does Linux work in zero-gravity?
Heh. I actually found this mistake much after I posted that comment.

Well, they're not buzzwords now.

Thanks for the tip. I really should have thought of that. How is Discovery ever going to hear me?

Thanks! It makes more sense now.... But, 19 years.... Laying down.... Alone.... I couldn't do it!
19 years seems like a pretty long time to keep someone laying around in a hospital bed.
Is it simply because he was not FULLY DEAD that they did not pull the plug?
I agree. This site is going nowhere fast.
Wait a second.
:/
Does this mean that the scammers were properly dealt with? So, in their ways of doing business (scamming), the opposite was received?
I don't get it

Well, my answer is BOTH!
No. Since Steve already has so much money, whatever money he earns during the year, he just puts back into the company!
