Berkshire Hathaway does not want their stock to be very liquid. In essence, they do not want their stock price to vary on the emotions of the owners. If you had 87,400 shares worth $1, and the company came out saying it's profits were going to be 30% of it's expectations, you might be tempted to sell off some of those shares, which would lower the price. However, if you had 1 share worth $87,400, you probably wouldn't sell your share because of this.
I'd happily entertain the idea of modifying our electoral process, but not in the middle of an election.
This is what most people don't understand about the court ruling. It didn't declare a winner, it simply said you can't change the rules in the middle of counting.
On the other hand, I definitely feel bad for advertisers because TIVO could potential hurt their effectiveness, and ads make the world go around. No ads. No Slashdot.
I have an idea. Make us want to watch the ads...then we won't filter them.
The problem with advertising today is that so much effort is put into placing them in areas where we you can't not look at them. Rather, if they hired some genius writers, and didn't run a commercial for 6 months, we might rather enjoy watching commercials.
Well, it's not that they are in 'freefall' while the plane is still in a climb. Its simply their momentum wanting to keep them going up as the plane's vertical momentum stops.
Its the same as the feeling you get when you're on one of those really fast elevators often seen in gov'ment buildings. Going up, you begin to feel less gravity as the car arrives at your floor.

Actually, the part was a brake caliper for my 2001 Grand Cherokee. AutoZone north of my house said it would take 2 weeks to order. AutoZone south of my house sold me a caliper, but not the correct caliper...
Murrays not only sold me the right caliper, but when I bought new caliper bolts, they reminded me that the new bolts were torqx, and not hex like my old ones,...which saved me from having to drive back to buy torqx sockets.
I'm sorry, my Webster dictionary defines a hacker as "a person who illegally gains access to and sometimes tampers with information in a computer system."
At what point do I trust your definition of the world?
Webmin is a good "bandaid" for people learning server administration and need to do something quickly. However, it does come with some inherit security problems. Most notably there have been exploits in the past that allow free shell access. Also, it requires you to run httpd, which on many servers is not worth the security risk.
Tripwire is a very easy to use intrustion detection system. If you follow the documentation, and implement it properly (storing the statically linked binary + database files on read-only media), it will make things very hard on a potential hacker.
You are right, most police and self-defense actions take place within 5 feet. And at such a distance, you would be better off with a pistol than a rifle. However, the airport policeman's role post-9/11 is quite different than typical LE or civilian self-defense. They are required to advance into a situation. A situation that probably is occuring a fair distance from them. And remember, just because you can shoot accurately from 25 yard while calm, that doesn't mean you can do the same while pumped.
By "automatic weapons" I believe he is talking about the MP5s and UMPs that a lot of european police agencies are carrying in airports.
And he is right. An armed police presence is within the force continuum. However, I do not believe that these weapons are carried for the sole purpose of showing them off.
You see, a pistol, any pistol, is a terrible weapon. It is horribly difficult to shoot accurately past a few yards. Its only salvation is with its concealability and low-weight.
In an airport, it is likely that the police would be engaging terrorists/criminals at distances that would not be in a pistol-shooter's favor. Thus, these weapons are necessary.
You might wonder why American police forces seldom carry these weapons on standard patrol, and the answer is that it is often done to maintain a peaceful image.
I don't normally reply to my own posts, but Jesus Christ in a Dump Truck. This was half satire, half sarcasm, people. I'm sorry that your liberal or conservative emotions are wound so tight that you can't even express humour anymore.
Maybe I should just stick to factless emotional Clinton/Bush bashing to incress my karma.
I was going to say the same thing. My house was built in 1922. On top of that, it is 2-stories, so getting ethernet from the basement to the 2nd floor is not really easy. Wireless is perfect in these situations.

Maybe if we include all Libertarians we can make that purse much larger

Hi Jared,
I do remember phish.nether.net, and remember it going away rather abruptly. I imagine it probably had to do with a lot of people abusing the system.
I prefere AutoZone over Murray's any chance I get. However, Murrays does tend to have the parts I need on-hand more often.

I would say that you're missing that fact you don't run X on a production server (at least...i don't)...
Bah, computer management sucks. Try Start->Run->MMC.exe

I agree, Robocop I was the best, and only good movie in the series. The enforcement droid 209 scared the hell out of me.
Next thing you know, the gamers will want devices to let them see through walls.
Don't be silly. Your shotgun fires shells that kill people, yes, but you cannot wipe out a city's worth of people in a microsecond using it
I have no idea why you cannot see the sarcasm...

That makes a much sense as the UN calling my 12 guage double-barrel Remington (shop smart, shop s-mart) a WMD.
Of course the Jeep is better off road, if you are so inclined.
For many, that is the whole point. I bought a Grand Cherokee a year ago because of its off road capabilities, which I promptly tested.
Jeeps truly are a blast.
Yeah but if Kessel run is 13 parsecs wide, doing it in less than 12 would be a feat. Would require a wormhole or something.
An MD5sum wouldn't work for spam either because they are constantly putting random numbers at the bottom.
Imagine the molecules of your body exploding at the speed of light...total protonic reversal.
