Whoa, you're right, I do sound like an asshole. I should've took a deep breath before writing that comment... I just have an intense dislike for people who use incorrect information to make a point.
Can I be excused just this once for my hastiness?:}
Have you ever used a Linux music player such as Rythmbox or Amarok? These use SQLite,
Wrong. Amarok can use either SQLite or MySQL. You can configure that at first run.
On the other hand, Rhythmbox uses an xml file for storing its database information.
How would you like it if every story submitted about the US space program was met with a deluge of wisecracks about redneck moonshine-distillers, John Wayne, a gun-toting population, and your half-educated president?

"Based on Brazil's history, it is believed that the country does not possess any weapons of mass destruction."
Also, If you scroll down, my link lists Brazil under "States formerly possessing nuclear programs".
Sure, you could say "What idiotic country would dismantle its entire nuclear arsenal", and you're probably right, but thats assuming they actually had nukes in the first place, at which point both of will us run out of evidence to back either of our claims and this conversation will degenerate into something not worth having.
Hence, lets just drop this highly debatable and forever-non-conclusive thread right here:)
There was a project once upon a time called as gaim-vv, after some time however, it got merged with the main Gaim project. There was recently a discussion on the gaim-devel ML (before it was called pidgin) about the status of the project. It seems its basically stalled because work on it is not as easy as people imagine it to be and that major work on it will begin after the 2.0.0 release of Pidgin.
There was also talk of having it as a GSoc project, but turns out it was too complicated for it.
The point of the article and what everyone is hollering about is that the MPAA is not practising what they are preaching. This makes it seem as though they will selectively apply the concept of IP to further their own interests.
Besides, the guy had released the thing for free on a Linkware license. How difficult is it to retain backlinks in the source code? Or even pay the mere 25 pounds he was asking for a commercial license?
NO opensource developer will have the $ to defend themselves against MS.
Nov 27 11:16:50 Well there's definitely one thing that we've asked Microsoft to look at
Nov 27 11:17:07 During the discussion with them we asked Microsoft to make a promise not to sue individual developers, ever, for patent infringement
Nov 27 11:17:12 * benJIman_ (n=bw@compsoc.sunion.warwick.ac.uk) has left #opensuse-project
Nov 27 11:17:21 * Bille (n=will@p54945687.dip.t-dialin.net) has joined #opensuse-project
Nov 27 11:17:22 And we were pleasantly surprised that they were very open to doing this
Nov 27 11:17:29 * benJIman (n=bw@compsoc.sunion.warwick.ac.uk) has joined #opensuse-project
Nov 27 11:17:34 The "individual non-commercial" covenant that you can find on their web site is the result of that discussion
MS seems to have promised not to sue individual developers. And please don't say
You do realise that an "incredible mass" when combined with an "incredible anti-mass" will probably cause enough energy to be released to destroy everything for several tens of kilometers?
That said, they will be making *particles* collide. That means they will be working with at most a few kilojoules of energy. (taking into account their mass _and_ their Kinetic Energy)

Databases formats can easily be interchanged. They don't have to be rewritten.
And the training cost is one time only. In fact, if they have a gradual change and not a sudden one as they are trying, they would not feel the pinch.
* Developers can switch teams and/or projects any time they want, no questions asked; just say the word and the movers will show up the next day to put you in your new office with your new team.
You can contribute to any open source project you want can't you?
* There aren't very many meetings. I'd say an average developer attends perhaps 3 meetings a week.
Meetings are never forced on you in OS Projects, people just have an IRC discussion or something..
* Google has a philosophy of not ever telling developers what to work on, and they take it pretty seriously.
You choose which OS project to work on yourself don't you?
I don't know the exact numbers but I think an indication can be given by the fact that making a local call in India from a mobile costs Re 1 and 1$ = Rs 40.

$ ls

See that rhythmdb.xml? Know what that is? Take a guess.
$ file rhythmdb.xml
rhythmdb.xml: XML
Just google my name, go ahead, do it.
And don't forget to click on the first result.

Brazil has nuclear weapons? I think not.
How about
"How can we make this story more controversial?"
Shi-ite?

All in all,
Its called dystopia -- an intended Utopia that falls on its face :)
Must use preview. Must use preview. s/used/use/g
I've actually seen him used that twice before :D

Damn, my sleep cycle is finally taking revenge on me. Not the humour centre please! Think of the sense of humour!
And how long before the standards for MIME types change? In fact do we even have one right now?
