I am gross and perverted
Im obsessed n deranged
I have existed for years
But very little had changed
I am the tool of the government
And industry too
For I am destined to rule
And regulate you
I may be vile and pernicious
But you cant look away
I make you think Im delicious
With the stuff that I say
I am the best you can get
Have you guessed me yet?
I am the slime oozin out
From your tv set

I recently installed 47 systems, six of them Kubuntu 9.0.4 systems with KDE 4.2.2. and the rest were Windows XP systems. It was not fun.
If it was the other way around (six windows machines and the rest Kubuntu ones), it would be completely different, I know;-)
You could automate the linux installation, while dealing with the "insert disk,next, next, finish, reboot, (insert disk,next, next, finish, reboot)" windows cicle of installation, and see what system installs the first.
One other obvious question might be why is NYPD so interesting in a "China connection"?
Election time for The Mighty Giuliani (or one of he's pupils, perhaps)?
Before I switch the default port of ssh to other less obvious I was getting a (failed) login attempt every second... most of them from China, yes. But that gives a ratio of 86400 attemps per day per computer!
My first approach was to block the whole subnet of the attacker(s). Two weeks later I gave up and switched the ssh port;-)
Well... as my computer, certainly, is not in the the list of political hackers, as is a private one and I don't work for the (any) govern, but... I have a fix IP:)
That might mean that they have a Linux server directly connected to the Internet through the default port.
Perhaps, instead of investing on censorship we should invest on eduction so that "the people" could understand a little better what "the game is about";-)
I never upgraded my old dos machine to windows when it came out because even if it could run it would run slow as shit. Same reason i wouldn't install KDE on a netbook.
What netbook are you talking about??? This afternoon I've been playing whith my daughter's new classmate (Atom CPU - 1GB RAM), KDE is the default desktop and is fast enough for me, even running several applications at the same time;-)
A couple of days ago I upgraded an 3 year old Pentium IV from Ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10 and then to 9.04 (alpha 4). It all took no more then 3 hours and went smoothly... and the alpha version works nicely;-)
We've done the same with one of our customers, upgradind his Debian server since 2004 (from Woody to Sarge and the to Etch... upgrading to Lenny next month).
"First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out - because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak out for me..." - Martin Niemoller
You're a joker, right?
Then, perhaps they should investigate what happened here in Portugal... strange businness occurred between Microsoft and the government.
(Dont' know who said it first, but I dont't think it were The Who)
A few deaths are acceptable to keep the economy running. We're talking millions or billions of dollars of lost economic activity.
Are you quoting who? Dr. Strange Love?
No! Follow Jello Biafra's advice: Kill the poor!
It shouldn't be over! He and Cheney (among ohers) should be properly judged (in Haia, perhaps).
Don't kid yourself, slashdot-netizen, chances are you don't get enough human interaction or even sunlight to risk infection. You're as good as immune.
Unless you're using Windows...

May be we need: "Designers! Designers! Designers!"

"Meet the new boss, same as the old boss"
The Who in "We won't get fooled again".
If only you were talking about Python...
There no need to support 'Java--' in Netbeans... really! Stop smoking that shit ;-)
The most significant improvement is that it doesn't hide your java files from you anymore ;-)

No! It is the portuguese govern's fault! They should have tested properly what they bought!

Time consuming and very unnecessarily messy...
No at all for Debian-based system users :D

Cats! As many as you need, both male and female, so they can procreate... and if you have mice enough you don't even have to bother to feed them ;-)
As for the locked doors, why don't embbed smaller ones for the kitten?
OK, just kidding, but there is a hole in my brain that would like to to do it anyway ;-)
Wow that's a seriously extraordinary claim, do you have any data whatsoever ?
Just remember that they don't pay taxes!
"Follow the money!". That's the (polititians) rule, both in EU and US (as in the rest ot the world, I'm afraid).
I need a lean and mean webDB, so, if not Drizzle, does anyone have other recommendations?
PostgreSQL!!! You'll get a stable DBMS, stored procedures, triggers -- and it's pretty fast handling large tables if properly tuned ;-)
