Some design choices in the windows world are aggravating. To change to a static IP address via GUI, it takes more and more clicks from Windows XP, to Vista/7/8 and then on 10.
Most people I encounter want to use their applications. Among them, the majority just needs a browser. They only start to care when the small business software they bought isn't running, and this usually happens with prople that switched to Mac because they look cooler. Nobody of that type of user switches to Linux
Ipv6 has the credo that every user should have a prefix to assign his devices (in)to. Most ISPs in Germany are stuck on the idea that the adresses should be shuffled around every reconnect. Now your name resolver has to be reconfigured each time aswell, along with services that would rely on static IPs. Any simple solutions for that besides having 2 ipv6 adresses bound to each device ?
A thing my CS professor liked saying was: "Computers are stupid, they only do thing people tell them to do". Having an understanding that a computer isn't a magic box but a machine humans developed using methods that utilize patterns that seemingly are alien to the human mind would be more helpful.
Still, some basic programming skills should help understanding that computers are bloody fast at processing repetetive tasks but still won't do anything that someone from the CS field would call intelligent.
Doesn't the local climate also contribute to a whisky ripening in a cask ? For example whisky ripening in peat areas have a distinct touch. Might be hogswash from the whiskey makers though, just thought this might be relevant
The biggest ISP in Germany (Deutsche Telekom / T-Online) isn't openly peering at the biggest national peering point (DE-CIX) but instead is bullying everyone to directly connect to their own network.
If the other party doesn't want to pay up the packets to T-Online often get routed really strangely, often over the atlantic.
Funny thing is that the Telekom is publicly pushing for packets staying within national borders while they are the worst offenders and tech-illeterate politicians are joining up on that BS, they have been called out by tech media and the Chaos Computer Club but it didn't reach the general public (yet)
Most scareware is built to only mess around within the users restraints which is more than enough to make the system unusable and getting gullible people to send 100 bucks into the Ukraine.
Someone bash into Microsofts skull that a UI has different demands depending how the main input is. I don't need my start menu spreading over my whole screen with ginournous buttons to pick an application.
Hell you could even diffentiate large table touch vs. portable touch devices, one approach just can't work great for all types.
So in an Village the T-Mobile sets up a tower. Suddenly people started complaining and pointed at the tower for the reason. The Telekom guys were baffled, imagining what would happen if they actually powered it up.
I am interested in black background websites because they look prettier on OLED displays (Old Samsung Galaxy here as a reserve phone) . Readability should be driving the decision on the colours, not some % power saving.
On the German Autobahn, you can be fined for driving on the left lane for no reason because overtaking someone at his right is forbidden and a left lane sneaker can block a lot of faster traffic.
What is grating when non-tech-literate people come up to me and tell me what great things their I-Toy can do, while other brands could do the same for a decade.
"Look how great my Iphone is, it has a talking cat and a fart app" (The fart app was in the top 10 downloads for a very long time in Germany, simple humour for simple people)
I gave up discussing IT with those people because it doesn't get you anywhere
Some of the recent Nvidia Chips caused nasty geometry artifacts in older games which kept getting more and then the game crashes.
I wasn't able to play Sim City 4 and Startopia.
Problem disappeared when I switched from my 8800GT to a Radoen HD5870. A friend with a GTX280 had the same problem as me.

SI is not only about the length measurements, even the US is already using SI units (Would have been insane if they'd use non-SI for everything).
Google will only give interesting results when you have a good idea what you are searching for

Hello Mr Sanger !
Do you remember when you felt really satisfied when working around technical limitations while implementing your artistic vision ?

Maybe the people competing in demo competitions ? Or do they go directly for Assembler, especially in contests with like 2KB or 64KB executable size.

From at least least world war 2. Bomb shelters need to account for a lot of body heat on a small space.
If it plays 30-40 years after the original trilogy why not. They can't be that stupid to use them as protagonists.
Unless they set up Thrawn as an antagonist for a whole trilogy I doubt a single movie would do him justice.
Germany isn't Japan or Turkey. We have 2 Generations of teachers that got indoctrinated with "OUR FAULT OUR FAULT"
Actually over the years WoW went from the go-to MMORPG to a cause of massive eye rolling in geek circles.
Will save us What idiot came up with this label anyway ?
Here in germany it is almost as bad, the products are called Bio-"whateveryoufancy"

They need to make the controller logic bullet proof, Seagate had quiet some problems with their hybrid disks
Internet on the customer side needs to be several magnitutes faster to accomodate the same graphic fidelity
