Don't forget (e) They have hardware/software they can't run on other systems. Personally, I don't care if I'm running Windows, Linux, or OS X. Of course, I can't sync my iPod Touch in Linux, but I can't play most of my games in Linux or OS X, either. I can do video editing in Linux, but I wouldn't say the software is strong enough to replace what's available for OS X (or even Windows.)
Now on my netbook, I'm running Windows only because of a preference to certain applications and a stubborn unwillingness to change, but they're all things that have a Linux equivalent that's around the same quality.
I had to do this for a while because I liked the "official" art for Firefox, but the ebuilds for it at the time would only use the 'generic' art. The change was simple, just a USE flag, but I had to update it for every version of Firefox that was released. Fortunately they put the same patch in to the official ebuild, eventually, but it's the same problem.
My HTC Fuze has an option when I plug it in to my computer over USB to "Share Internet Connection." While the networking is set up by default to only work when you have a tethering plan, a simple registry hack (to the end user, a CAB that modifies the registry, or a settings 'tweak' app) is all that's needed to get it working with the normal data connection. Winmo comes with the "Internet Connection Sharing" app out of the box. And it works very well.
If you want more advanced sharing, WMWifiRouter will create an ad-hoc connection you can connect to with your computer, with multi-user and WEP support.
I'll just keep using Skype with my Windows Mobile phone, then, which, by the way, lets me use it on the data network. (I've never tried, because we only have EDGE in my area) I'm not bashing either Skype or Apple (I love my iPod Touch, though it's a 1st gen so Skype wouldn't work with it anyway) but I still have my PSP as another Skype-capable device, too.
Valve isn't a publicly traded company, so he can't forcefully be removed from office unless they're bought out (unless there's some part of business law I'm terribly missing). Now if EA bought them, I'd have a lot more concern..
I wouldn't be surprised if Macs had similar BIOS vulnerabilities.
Except Macs don't use a BIOS at all (well, a traditional one, at least), they all use EFI. I'm certain that they'd have their own brand of vulnerabilities, though.
CE is not a consumer OS, it's meant to be embedded.. a better question is why are they running 98, instead of CE, when you get full source for CE and the licenses are cheaper, too. Though maybe they get an OEM discount for buying and building x86 machines bundled with Windows? (Or they were just stripping Dells? *shudder*)
Unfortunately the only tutorial I could find wasn't actually very helpful, and I had to wing a few things to get it to work. Being witout my desktop at the moment, I can't look back to figure out how I did it.
(I guess they don't want you using MMS over an Edge network)
Except every phone sold on AT&T other than the iPhone supports it, and most of the country doesn't have 3G. And why wouldn't they want you using it on EDGE? They're already charging you, what, $0.25 for a glorified 600kb e-mail.
If you jailbreak your phone, it's not entirely difficult to use the free-to-download SDK to run apps on your iPhone/iPod Touch. Also, if you're a paid developer, you're given an OS image to provision your device to run software signed by your test key.
Personally I love those, we had a few installed in my town. All the lights change to yellow at 4 seconds.. you should know if you can make it without running or not, without 'hoping' the light won't turn yellow or red.

It's not as bad when you recite "using System dot Diagnostics dot Trace semicolon" first thing after you wake up every day.
Moonlight, then?

Doesn't cost minutes, text messages, etc.
This is partly in agreement with my (brother?) post, but the iPhone also has a command line, if jailbroken.
Or they could just put physically broken discs in the cases, and be done with it when you open the case.

You can probably just disassemble Silverlight stuff yourself with tools like .NET Reflector.

Mod parent up. You'll probably still have to be a Registered Nintendo Developer (aka thousands of dollars) to develop for the DSi store.

I don't know about Yahoo with voice, but I know Skype is supported on a few other platforms, like Windows Mobile. Works over wifi as well as data.

They're working on it

The reason they want a picture is probably because they're going to send you a new chair, and not want the old one back.
Although the actual device... cannot even light up an LED...
So you're telling me this thing is less powerful than a potato?
So what's the politically correct term for a 'hyper' link?
and again with no damned way for me to shoot the damned speakers!
I had to fight -very- hard not to laugh out loud while at work.
I think you meant NNN . . . NOO . . . OOO . . . Ooo . . . ooo . . . ooo . . . ooo . . . oo! . . . !!!!
