I'm not really sure how much of a change they would have to make, considering there was an article earlier this year on how someone removed the 3G unit from their iPad and replaced it with the insides of an.. wait, you guessed it, a MiFi. (article) My point being the 3G unit is modular in the iPad (unlike a phone's, which is integrated with the radio which is deeply involved with the phone's operation) and they could probably make a CDMA version.
Who says wifi is stationary? I think you're missing the point, but so is Apple.
If you're on stationary wifi, then yes, why do you need location services? But if you're on mobile wifi (tethering, MiFi, etc.), you might want to use it as a GPS or the like. Now, if it supported bluetooth GPS pucks (or nowadays, smartphones that will act as bluetooth GPS pucks) then there shouldn't be as much an issue.
The difference is one is a news site that you don't HAVE to comment on, or could comment on somewhere else, and the other is a video game forum. I don't think I have to go any further with the explanation of the latter.
You kind of circumvented your own point - you're right, it is the service picking and choosing how devices work, but nobody said U-verse works that way, you only said Telus, which is not even in the same country.
Technically U-verse boxes are already running Windows CE - they look a lot like Media Center, and if you go into the About menu you can see Microsoft had their hand in it.
This isn't about scratching. The motion of pulling the device out of the case was causing the grit to crack the glass. Broken glass is far more serious a problem.
I thought that too, when I first heard about this, but then I saw a picture of what was definitely the back of an iPhone 4, and it was definitely cracked glass.
Where does it say Google is making money from ads? During Logitech's presentation yesterday they said Google was making no money from the user experience, except from normal ads inside the built-in Chrome browser (to be expected). They're probably licensing it to the hardware manufacturers.
Obviously you don't get Twitter, because you should follow things that interest you and aren't noise. Now it's very likely that people you friend on Facebook are friended because they are actual real life friends or family. I don't have a social obligation to follow my family on Twitter, but I can subscribe to accounts that I feel are not noise, and remove ones that are. If you're following noise on Twitter (or Facebook, really) it's your own damn fault.
What exactly is "make install" supposed to do when building Android..?
Valve is on the short list of developers that still release tools (and super-encourage) the community to mod and make content for their games.
Woah, woah, what's this "method" you're using to analyze this situation? It's no kind of science I've seen used on Mythbusters!

Well, to be fair, it's not coming from your wifi, it's coming from more or less a wardriving MAC GPS database.
And considering most of those custom ROMs are built on top of official build versions, they're almost irrelevant.
Probably so they don't go over the API limits on one account.
Oh god, you scared me for a second when putting "brew" and Android in the same sentence.
GPS likely isn't accurate enough to handle the delay calculations, the accuracy being anywhere around 5-15 meters.
Probably. These are Apple products we're talking about, after all. Only the highest quality materials should be used to destroy the iPhone!
Of course, especially since it's probably 1024kbit.

This is U-verse. You know.. fiber to the last mile, DSL to the home? There is no cable or satellite involved, here.
The fact it hasn't supported Windows Media Center still blows my mind, considering the current set top boxes are running a form of it.

I think you need to try your hand at math again. 1000kbit = 1mbit (in base 10)
My bad, I thought that was normal behavior. I use Personal Menu which adds appearing on Alt, and I uncheck the Menu Bar.

Slashdot comments are all posts.. all useless.....
Who on Earth said anything about an open phone? It's an open source project.
