The three are the worst sports not because of the head injuries but because of the fact that kids are indoctrinated so early. Even though contact is not condoned early on (well less so in Hockey and Soccer than Football) accidents happen and when you include the fact these are maturing brains involved the injuries are even more concerning

  2. And full contact hockey.

Works on existing hardware in a supported manner from the vendor. If you have a large number of Wintel machines macOS is completely out of the running. Granted you can start evergreening hardware but that could make this a 3-5 year project rather than a much shorter one.

  7. It also comes down to the fact of people looking at UBI through today's perspective. Pretty much every western country is looking into it and how to implement. Buddy's wife works for Canada's Privy Council and this is something they are already talking about. Automation is going to put a lot of people out of work, they are even saying that one of the first will be truckers and that automated semis are already out there.
Things are going to have to change, otherwise you will have the rabble at the gates with pitchforks and torches.

Cool so then you go to voice mail, which at some point I will probably listen to (most likely when I get an email from someone saying "Hey why didn't you return my call")

  9. SSC is actually the brain child of the Chretien govt, it finally got implemented under Harper (that doesn't excuse them just clarifies). The issues with SSC is the fact the union didn't want so many contractors (except that there is majority of their brain trust). That plus they are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Merging service for all departments is not something that can be done quickly as they are learning with Phoenix (don't get me started on that..)

The ideal solution would have been to have SSC setup a standard solution and only take over the small depts like Elections and then once big enough start looking at migrating the higher fruit on the tree (i.e CSIS, DND, etc)

  10. 10 an ounce plus a bit of tax ain't bad compared to down south. The real issue is I have a very sneaking suspicion the LPs will not be able to keep up with demand.

PS. don't stereotype millenials they will probably not be the most users of the new system, it will be 20-30 year older demographic

  11. So far the only thing I have found that works is buy an unlocked cell phone outright and don't change planes. If a good deal comes along then maybe change.

Still have a landline and am tempted to get a call blocker. There is one that is whitelist and blacklist capable.
    Whitelist- goes right through
    Blacklist - hangs up

Robocalls can't hit 0 so they get hung up on.

It actually saved me about $40 when they decreased the price $40 a day after I bought something. Basically went like this:
Me: Hey I bought this yesterday and you dropped your price
    Amazon: We don't price match
Me: Ok I want to return my order with free shipping paid by you (50lb item BTW) and order a new one

Something is going to need to be done. Doubt it will be in my lifetime but it is going to be a shakeup similar to the Internet or electricity

  25. The idea behind UBI is that it gives the recipient the absolute least amount of money to basically survive on. Similar to welfare but the money doesn't get clawed back if you get any income. The idea is that since there will be less jobs available to get employed in it allows a person to come up with their own way of making income without the fear that they will be living in a box behind the 7-11. Pretty much every western country in the world is looking into it as it isn't a question of if, it's a question of when. A lot of the money that goes into social assistance (disability, Unemployment insurance, govt pension plans, etc) is to ensure that there is no abuse. With UBI, these all go away.

What you will definitely see is a tightening on immigration though.
