Could this pulverize Nokia's sales to hasten the end? What would MS do with a yard sale of the scraps of an imploded Nokia?

Housing drives people's budgets, and in turn drives the wages necessary to live there, which drives more housing to get those wages.

Nice question, though I like someone's comment that you can't quite pull an Egypt incident here in the US, the US Military would just use our money to pulverize us and then send us into social nuclear winter.

The best revolt against social mores I can think of was the 60's free love movement against excessive morality of the 1950's. The key is legality. The "Spirit of 69" didn't violate any laws, which is why it worked. Morality was "just so", which lost out.

My rough guess this time around is a national vote social networking site. We used to "want privacy" in our votes, but now (last 50 years) that fragmentation is being used against us with colluding politicians & corporations. But if we used the Big Tracking mentality against them, we could create our own consensus of opinions and then the polls would just be the formality.

I once saw an awesome word that described "medicine in an impure phone". Marketing's entire duty is to prevent rational decision making. I feel you have fallen prey to this.

So ... don't be connected all the time. However, the realms of (smartphone) and (connected all the time) are not the same. Smartphones are hardware devices which Do Stuff. Connected is a service package choice. The offline apps are still neat.

I like my iPhone's organization of little app buttons and UI way better than my old Sprint brick years ago. Smart. However I didn't care for the current aggressive gouging of the mobile operators, so I canceled my monthly plan and went go-phone prepaid on AT&T. But alas, what about my data needs? WiFi. Work has one. *McDonalds* has one.

Re: someone's comment on the Best of Debian, it would be interesting if Ubuntu and Mint and ____ and ____ all unified, and made 1 click options on the Debian Install "If you click this it will be easier but less pure."

I like the concept described above of Debian being almost an academic, theoretical distro, then externalize all the tweaks for newer users. I get the whole purity argument, and I only plead lack of ability to do it right, so I need the "crutches".
