Very interesting defense of Rev. Wright from Mike Huckabee
"[Y]ou can't hold the candidate responsible for everything that people around him may say or do," Huckabee says. "It's interesting to me that there are some people on the left who are having to be very uncomfortable with what... Wright said, when they all were all over a Jerry Falwell, or anyone on the right who said things that they found very awkward and uncomfortable, years ago. Many times those were statements lifted out of the context of a larger sermon. Sermons, after all, are rarely written word for word by pastors like Rev. Wright, who are delivering them extemporaneously, and caught up in the emotion of the moment. There are things that sometimes get said, that if you put them on paper and looked at them in print, you'd say 'Well, I didn't mean to say it quite like that.'"
Later, he defended Wright's anger, too:
"As easy as it is for those of us who are white to look back and say 'That's a terrible statement!'... I grew up in a very segregated South. And I think that you have to cut some slack -- and I'm gonna be probably the only conservative in America who's gonna say something like this, but I'm just tellin' you -- we've gotta cut some slack to people who grew up being called names..."
Well, as the OP says, $350 for an x360. With the left over cash ($450 before we hit $800), you can buy an EEE or some other Circuit City desktop that can surf the internet, and fill the gaps of what your Console can't do, and still come out less than $800 (use the difference for the "extra" cost of console games). I think the intention of the OP is that you can buy a computer and an xbox for the price of a computer that is as good as an xbox360. Each side has it's advantages (mods vs. stabability, control schemes etc). me personally, i'm glad I get to play Ninja Gaiden when it comes out.
I paid the $5, then proceeded to find other ways to download the album, since the one time download link was broken due to the high traffic. The price is right for an album like this (a bunch of instrumentals). If it were a "real" NIN album, it would be worth a $10 download if it were this easy, and all the artwork came as it did with Ghosts.
Woah woah woah, don't throw those nutjobs into Utah, The Discovery institute (major proponent of ID) is out of Seattle, Washington. Most scientists here in Utah are just for the dino fossils, cancer research, or cold fusion:D
When Year Zero Tracks were leaked in 320mbps mp3 format on a thumbdrive found in a bathroom, many people speculated that Trent was behind it to protest the industry's horrible practices.
1. I like the idea of a grace period, where the creator gets full copyright protection for no charge. Let's say 14 years.
The grace period should be different for each industry. Software 5 years, manufactured widgets 14 years. Music and Movies, 7 years etc etc. These values are arbitrary, but there does need to be some differentiation of what the lifespan of the IP is before it becomes completely obsolete.
Until, if you follow the proposed solution, you have to pay taxes on your One hundred billion trillion zomgbbq dollars. Which at that point, you probably couldn't pay those taxes, and the IP would either have to be revalued through another auction process, or penalized through a fee of overvauluing your IP, or thrown to the public.
Can I say one minor thing slightly OT, I haven't seen the word Macintosh spelled out for probably 10 years, and it looks so strange.. Macintoshes *shudder*
You are correct, The article is wrong. Zelda, not mario, was inspired by Miyamoto's exploration.
I do have to say that my old SNES got the most playtime out of a single game for me. I think i've played S.Metroid 6 or 7 times through? Same with Link to the Past. It seemed to be the perfect form for 2d sidescrollers and the kind of games that Nintendo Made. Enough power to allow for Saves and bigger environments, and gameplay that matched; difficult, but not frustrating (the majority of NES games were hard because of controls, not because the games were designed that way, i'm looking at you TMNT). I'll never be able to play the 64 because I couldn't afford one at the time and going back to play it now is almost impossible because the 3d geometry is analogous to the NES:SNES upgrade. However, (this might just be the old man in me) I have no problem going back and playing any SNES game that I missed. I feel the same will hold true for the 360 and ps3, and even the xbox and ps2 (later gen games). The graphics are not intrusive into the enjoyment of the game, even if graphics do get better.
Talk about profitting off the backs of other's work
I, for one, don't subscribe to the "internets" just to download illegal music. Of all the reasons I have internet, Illegal mp3 downloading is not one of them. As I've said many times before, When someone offers music online, DRM free, cheaper than a physical album (mp3's should NOT be the same price as a physical, lossless album) I'll buy MP3's. Until then, If you don't give me a reasonable option to buy your album, I'll either buy it in the store, or ignore it altogether. Thanks for adding U2 to the tainted "Metallica" pool of music downloading.
I'm waiting until I don't have to spend SO MUCH of my hard earned cash before I buy in. $30 for a movie? Go hug yourself. However, the bluray win will let sony stick around for another console generation, since many people (including myself) will probably buy a PS3 even if it is just for bluray. It won't hurt that team ICO will also have a game on the system eventually.
So your saying it is perfectly acceptable to throw the baby out with the bath water? I mean this is basically making the case that one or two bad people justify persecuting everyone right?
To rip off a joke from someone else, after throwing out the religious bathwater, there is no baby left in the tub.
But tell me, you have sparked my interest, what is so bad about religious faith that you seem to be so disgruntled over.
The major advertisement for Richard Dawkins "The God Delusion" is a picture of the Twin Towers with the subtitle "imagine No Religion". I think that says it all.
Want a candidate who won't change his views just to trick you out of your vote? Want someone with national security experience along with multiple terms in Congress? Fred08.com
Well, perhaps it's Kolob. Jesus needed a new "home" after being on earth for 30 years.
Well, and the Courts stopping the Recount didn't hurt either.

Preferrably in that order... hell, the first will reduce the severity of the second.

To bastardize Ghandi: I like Christianity, I dislike your christians, they are so unlike your christ.
What's easier? Well, it's not censorship, i'll tell you that much.
I finally understand the R(EVOL)UTION!!! Here, Paul, have my credit card info 5266 1243.... take it all, TAKE IT ALL!

Wait, we ARE talking about Macs, right?
Buy me one, Mail it to me in a Manilla envelope, and i'll "find out" for you.
This is just because you support President Schwarzenegger.
The mental image of Kuchinich vs. Obama won't leave my head.
