No it doesn't. It may hinder their ability to be rude, etc with a cell phone but it does not take away that person's right. In fact, I'd argue that even with a jammed cellphone one could just pretend to have a loud, annoying conversation with said brick in hand.

At least that page has notes on the voting, take a look at the page for Tourettes Guy (may he RIP) sometime. I think many people here know who he is/was and would agree that he deserves a page on wikipedia right? Well check it out, the page isn't there any more. Try and create a new one and you get a page that says This page has been banned from being created. So then you think to yourself, hm, that's odd I'll go check out the discussion page to see why (look for votes, etc). Click on discussion and oh look, that page has been deleted and banned as well. Then you are told to check out another page where people are discussing the removal of the discussion page. Are you freaking kidding me? And all of this is a result of some admin who doesn't like Danny and won't even allow people to discuss possibly having the article! What's the point of voting when votes mean nothing? OH BOB SAGAT!!

At the sake of getting modded into oblivion... The parent was talking about an achievement for episode 2 with a link to detail on the achievement. This article is on the orange box. The other link is to another story talking about new games vs old games. How in any way is the parent offtopic?

PS - I'm not sure about others but my friend mentioned having problems with online play for team fortress, has anyone else experienced this?

I don't know if Maryland has any.

I was actually prepared to respond to this with a "nope, luckily in MD we don't have any silly HOV lanes" but then I realized this is /. and I should probably check first ;)

Anyways apparently we do have a few in MoCo for 270, but it looks like that is it.

"If they would all trade in their big trucks for small trucks, I'd be happy....."

This is actually not as simple as it sounds. Many people have loans and such on cars that they need to pay off before they can even think about trading in... and they are not guaranteed that trading in their old car will get them enough money to pay it off so they can get afford a loan for a new car. Add in the fact of gas prices rising (per your wish) and the resulting increase in the price of all things (food, electronics, etc) this becomes even less likely as less of their income will be available for the cost of a new car.

As for the "well they should have thought about that before they bought such a big expensive suv/truck/etc" argument consider that many suv's/trucks cost similar to other cars and possibly cheaper with all of the "employee pricing" etc deals people like GM have been doing the last year or two to get rid of all of the suvs/trucks.

Pollution is a problem and certainly something to be addressed along with other topics such as alternative fuels. Pointing fingers solely at one type of vehicle, specifically one that wasn't really prevalent/existing in the years from 1950-1990 when a LOT of pollution was created/oil wasted (see the 8 cylinder beasts of the 1960s/70s), is just silly. We need to find a way to make cleaner vehicles, period.

[overstating but you get the point]And really if you still feel so strongly about large vehicles then how about in addition to your plan we start going after people with "unnecessarily large" TVs that use far too much (probably fossil fuel generated) electricity, I mean who needs more than 12inches right? And the same goes for refrigerators, washing machines, water heaters, computers (who needs more than one cpu? we can all run some old Pentium 1s w/ Win 95 and Netscape 3!).[/overstating but you get the point]

So yes it is notable that the missles *might* be pointed at Europe but it is not the same as "Russia builds missles targeted at Europe".....

Also, why would a city want to risk losing that much revenue from all those tickets?

This is a good point, one I was also wondering. The university I graduated from relied very heavily on these types of fines and I would imagine if this technology took a bite out of that this loss would be shifted else where (tuition)... of course it was all students paying for it but now even kids w/ out cars would have to pay a share :).

I suppose cities that get involved in this can just charge the company implementing it an (extra) liscencing fee but that seems like it would cause an increase in the "conveinece fee"...
