Well, for the older (non-focal plane array) seeker heads, you can actually steer the missile away by pulsing the laser in a particular way.

And honestly, how many terrorists are smart enough to build their own AA missiles, or even modify the existing seeker heads?
Oh, there are good reasons to expect it. One good reason is that, in 20-30 years if all goes well, we will be constructing our own full-scale universe simulations. Possibly millions at the time. From that that point onwards, at least, there will be a million to one shot that any given universe is simulated.
By the same logical reasoning, we might expect that this event has already occured in the past, and we already have a million to one shot of living in a virtual universe.
I was hoping someone would bring up one of these or these and we'd have a long pissing argument about things containing itself or not, but I like your lighthearted response better.
