The two stories I read on the Brittish and German news are extremely pro-Russia (and strongly anti-US). I think this is yet another sign of our declining power in the world, and it makes me sad.

Changing even the dumbest of laws ain't that easy, just ask the married couples in TX arrested for using a dildo or anyone caught "speeding" on highway!

    Why aren't we doing that?

Political correctness and sensitivity, I bet. It would be very easy to round up and sanitize all the AIDS patients: something like random saliva checks followed by a reversible chemical castration and a discrete implant/ankle bracelet. It could be done rather inconspicuously, combined with an employee urine test, during a breathalyzer traffic stop, or at a DMV photoshoot :)

But I just don't think most people would go for it. In particular, even though many AIDS victims did "deserve it" by having consentual promiscuous and unprotected sex and drug encounters, there is a significant minority that got AIDS through no fault of their own, e.g. from rape, blood transfusion, dirty medical equipment, or from their parents. So the problems is, many people would feel that AIDS profiling would penalize these victims. I am not even going to mention all the Nazi deathcamp similarities.

This sentiment is empty without providing them with a legal way in. And in reality there are only three legal ways to get in for 90+% of people out there:

    1) Marry an American
    2) Be skilled and lucky enough to get one of the 65,000 H1-B visas (then slave for your company for 6+ years on the off chance they will actually start a green card application).
    3) Have about $1,000,000 cash on hand to invest (or $500,000 if you can also create 10 new jobs)

As to whether these criteria are reasonable, most Americans living here right now wouldn't qualify.
