    Fair Use doesn't specify what percentage is ok. In some cases 100% of the original can still be fair use.

    Looks like it was pretty clear how it was used.

    In this particular case, because the artist is dead. In other cases, we have heard what the artists have to say. You also have to define "made" as more than just the "artist" is involved in making a song or tune.

    I don't quite understand the questions in the article:

    Well if they had a negative experience, they have EVERY right. You know "word of mouth" works both ways. Customers can vote with their wallet, but they can also vote with their mouth.

    When your business is threatened, shouldn’t you be able to protect yourself?

    Sure. You do that by addressing the complaints, and solving the problems and providing better service. Not by silencing your critics.

    The lights were full on too, he was bold as brass....I spent the night with the lights on clothed.

    The light didn't seem to bother it... so why leave it on?
    It is just a "little" cockroach, not sure what the big problem is.

    Isn't this the WHOLE point of negative reviews? I don't know Canadian law, but in America what this guy said should be protected. Basically you are saying no one can say anything bad about a business.

    No. People like blaming Obama for not doing anything about the apparatus that was setup under Bush's watch, and for not doing what he said he would do. We blamed Bush when he was in office, now he isn't. So we blame the person who is in charge, who isn't doing anything to fix the situation.

    So who owns the copyright on a multi artists piece of work? There is nothing wrong with transferring copyright (how do you give up your right, if you can't transfer it at all?) and work for hire should still exist.

    All of those licenses are worthless without some form of enforcement. DMCA is a bit draconian, but it is enforcement, and can be used with the licenses you mentioned. DRM is just a technology and can also be used with those licenses that you mentioned

    For Education, it's particularly unbalanced (depending on your tax structure), because taxing people who didn't go to college to pay for those who did it real economic unfairness.

    It isn't entirely unfair. You as a person (and society as a whole) benefit from sending the masses to college. Although I do agree more people go to college than need to. But if you make it harder for people to become doctors, you end up with fewer doctors. If you make it harder for bridge builders to become bridge builders you end up with fewer bridges.

    So, what then for cases like Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington? They both are reasonably sized cities which border each other on a state line, effectively creating a single metropolitan area. Many sleep in Vancouver, yet live their lives in Portland; and, of course, vice versa.

    Isn't this an issue even without Amazon getting involved, since Oregon doesn't have a sales tax.

    On the flip side you could just be happy with Amazon raising their prices to cover the sales taxes?

    Why would they have to "raise" the prices? I hope Amazon won't raise their price to cover the sales tax in another state as I already pay tax on my Amazon purchases. Just tack the tax on like every other business does.

    ALWAYS give 2 weeks notice.. Unless you simply cannot stay another day for any reason...

    This is bad advice. You need to take your situation into account. They probably won't give you 2 weeks notice, so why give it to them?
    MANY companies won't offer anything other than confirm employment for previous employers. Because they've been sued and lost for giving out bad references in the past...

    While the former may not be completely reliable as to how good Bob is, just getting the latter tends to raise questions.

    What questions does it raise? You do know that this is ALL some companies will tell you, no matter how good or bad the employee was.

    Its perfectly legal to download any file off the internet.

    Well no it isn't. It is illegal to copy something you haven't been given permission to copy. But the it isn't worth it to go after the end users. They could, but they wouldn't be able to get the trillion dollar settlements they get against distributors.

    Sure you can, except you can't sell or give away some arrangements. It was something we inherently agree to do, to promote the arts. Of course 4% of the people think this is wrong... Is it right to take that away from the other 96%, just because 4% think it is wrong?

    I fully recognize the benefits that copyrighted works have provided for us in the past, and the incentive it provides for new creation. However, I'm not sure copyright deserves to survive in today's technological world when it does as much to deter creation and innovation as it does to foster it.

    Copyright does way more to foster creation and innovation than stifle it. Although I think todays lengths are too long (longer than a lifetime is virtually unlimited) copyright itself isn't "quaint." Of course you probably don't care for Hollywood movies and music sung by professionals, as we would lose these without copyright

    In those situations, you are not the customer. You are the product. The advertisers and such are the customers

    You do realize that you can be both the customer and the product. The service needs to win you over as a customer before the can sell your data as a product. This "you are the product not a customer" tripe, can be used for almost anything.

    The probability you are wrong is > 0. If you are writing an article for mathematicians, include equations, If you are writing for non mathematicians then don't use equations. You need to speak in a language that the audience is familiar with.

    Things do tend to be more 'hard' when the student spends more time listening to their nay-saying peers than their instructors. When you actually believe Math, Chemistry or Physics is 'hard' your belief is your own largest obstacle to learning.

    This is probably why it is difficult to teach students these things. Because for many people in the industry, what they are studying comes easy for them. So they think it is easy for everyone else. When those other people say the subject matter is difficult, the experts say "silly kids, think of it as easy and it will be." Unfortunately it isn't that simple. Math IS difficult.
    For example I know a lot of skateboarders. And many of these people think skateboarding is easy, and they can't understand why more people don't do it. They can't comprehend the fact that some people can't even STAND on a stationary skateboard, let along make it move. Some people can barely understand that concept that 2 + 2 = 4, and yet you tell them "well if you think it is hard, it will be hard." When it actuality it IS hard.

    You can't use this technique to convert and already filmed 2D to fake 3D. This technique works by filming those "occluded areas" already, much like a 3d camera would.
