I think what he is talking about is the millions of dollars worth of materials and labor. The route it takes is just a matter or permits or permissions. If the company cannot profit from the task, then why should they do it at all!? "The people" can put in their own damn wires. Oh wait, "the people" never actually do anything but wait for someone else to do it...

...content providers charging an extra price for HD content they are receiving for free. For example to receive HD content, my sole cable supplier says I must spend an extra $60 a month to purchase digital, then HD access. However, I discovered since my tv has a HD tuner with a coaxil input, I can get the same HD content for free. Proving its not a technology barrier but something they just want to charge us for.

And since the content is being held hostage, consumers are not buying HD devices, thus there is little demand. ...I know come Feb 2009 my cable provider is going to jack up my prices and subscription just because they have a monopoly in my area.

This is why antenna are making a come back. Major networks still broadcast over air in large metropolitan areas.

I've never seen such a thing. Maybe it varies from phone company to phone company. Or, the person choose to add that notation to their listing. Its not added in the phone books I have looked at.

  16. Re:Oblivious on MySpace Not Guilty in Child Assault Case · · Score: 0

And those books are not always a publication of the phone company. Nor do they list age or gender. Nor is it likely that a minor will have credit or the ability to have phone without their parents knowing. AND, you have the ability to omit your listing completely. Have you ever heard of an "in listed number?"

The phone company is nothing like MySpace. It does not have forums, blogs, profiles, bulletins or applications for connecting *random* people together. Stop trying to force a square peg into a round hole.

Compare the the US in internet users and our numbers will be better. Other countries may have an advantage at the moment because they are laying down lines for the first time. We either have to replace or upgrade. Besides, believe it or not, some people are perfectly happy with dialup or no internet at all.

Its an identical situation to telecommunications. Europe is advanced in cellphones because they never had the landline network we have.

  20. Re:Obvious on MySpace Not Guilty in Child Assault Case · · Score: 0

There is a significant difference. THe phone company doesnt list your age and gender, nor does it do peer to peer networking. (In the literal sense.) To innitiate a phone call you have to exchange phone numbers. You might make the argument for the phone book companies.

My only dismay at this judgement is that that the reason is interferring with MySpaces business, rather than assert user responsibility. The 13 year holds some responsibility and that should be noted.
