"There are more than a dozen companies with WM DRM licenses"
Yet every doorknob out there rants whines and complains about Apple as if Apple is the only answer. The only problem with Apple is that its is the preferred solution, not the sole or best solution.
Just read up a few stories where EMI is targeting Apple... Doorknobs!
...Is that ISPs are going to move from flat fees to a long-distance-like fee strucuctre and ultimately higher fees for the comsumer for internet access.
Which is absurd because we already have staggard up load and down load rate packages. And cell phones have proven that all this higher cost access is really just a smokescreen for profit.
Drug commercials on TV only demostrate that the drug industry is pushing pills we dont really need.
However, the most damage done is that Democrats and the the less intelligent of society now believe the tv and think they need these pills. However, Democrats want to take money from their neighbors to pay for it.
Freedom!? Buy whatever you want. Dont buy it. Vote with your dollars. Monopoloy!? There are over 10 varieties and sources of DRM music. Just because you desire the most popular source does not grant you any rights. When you buy music you are paying for priviledge...
When you buy a book, you bought the book, not the words on the pages. When you buy a CD, you bought the CD, not the digital code.
For the last 17 years I have lived "downtown." And with that I either walked or rode a bike many places. A few years ago I moved to the suburbs for 3 of those years and had significant weight gain because I wasnt walking any more. I moved back downtown in part for weight reasons.
I dont think its so they can sell the rights back, I think its because of the Napster and Chinese piracy. People went hog wild file sharing at the same time consumers were hit with a recession, the internet boosted the used reselling market, video rentals boomed and consumers started cringing at the first run price of media...
We know about copyrighted material and we still file traded. We brough DRM on ourselves because we behaved irresponsibly.
The onlything bad about DRM is that its platform specific. Mac users can use MS DRM at all, while windows users can use us Apple DRM. I dont even know about Linux users.
Most people crying about Apple's refusal to license their DRM are the same fools who made game console suedo DRM (media for one platform) acceptable. You proved to media companies.
And no matter how you slice it, because of Napster and torrents, making copies of a CD for a friend is world s different than distributing 100s and millions of copies.
Media has always been about units sold and you fools are distributing units for free.
Now, I think that the media companies are over reacting but we've esencially destroyed their industry. They will soon move to DRM free distribution just because it will be cheaper in the long run.
But if we had an ounce of integrity, we wouldnt be giving away copies of our media away to the planet. We violated the personal-use rules. Now our hands are slapped.
Are you retarded or what. You can put any music into iTunes and iPOd except DRM'd files from some other DRM scheme. If you already have Apple files, no problem.
And in any case: JUST BURN THE SONGS TO AN AUDIO CD and it will remove the DRM. If you can't figure that out, you shouldnt be writing summaries for/.
The music and movie industries are the ones requiring DRM protections. Sheesh.
It is a theory. Whats the problem? I swear some people get hyped up with true - bnothreligious nuts and science nucts and they for get that a large portion of what we choose to believe is more faith based than indisputible fact - regardless if it is religion or science.
They may provide a service, but in the context of my original comment they are not. The service jobs increasing are cashiers, food servers, janitors etc...
Just last week the leading scientific community said global warming is irreversable (at least for several centuries.)
Otherwise the best solution is to nuke China and India.

Why is Apple the focus? Of the dollar Apple charges, the record companies make most of it. THey are only competing with themselves.

I think they should record even more data than that. As long as they dont sell individual identities.
Create an install disk that installs in 5 minutes with no driver problems.
When content is purchased online, integrate the purchasers id in the file in a matter removal renders the file unusable. Like a digital serial number.
For torrented content do the same except with the IP of the uploader.
Then, when a file is found in the wild, you know who to punish. Then you dont have to enable hardware or software with DRM "readers."

Whats the benefit of removing these?

Are they going to revalue our paper mone and make 20s worth pennies.
Who's got some auction software? We can site called "Banned from Ebay" and make a killing.
"The Good, the Bad, and the Wii"
The rights of the owners of IP? Because posting entire episodes of tv is a crime and also disallowed by YouTube policy.

" they don't care about the fact that they have to reset the permissions and turn on Appletalk every five minutes"
If someone is doing this, they dont know how to use a computer.
... but some how he keeps outsmarting the Democrats (...stealing elections, whatnot). What does that say about Democrats?

I am citing a Wired article, not coming to my own conclusions. You can dispute me, but its a waste of energy and illogical.

Not sure if I understand your message: lawyer, marketing consultant, SOX commpliancy officer are not services jobs.
Last time I heard this claim was an article in Wired. The jobs growing in the US are services jobs. Lower wages, lesser skills.
The law better damn well let us sleep in our cars.
