The government can invalidate bills? I don't see how that would work. Is there a master list of good bills -vs- bad bills? Does every merchant have a copy of this list they run the bills over? Me thinks not.
While I can appreciate you boycotting self checkout lines, I'll hop over to those in a heartbeat if the human-staffed lines are packed. I'm out of the grocery store in a fraction of the time it would take the human cashiers to ring up my groceries.
I use my tablet as a book reader and web browser. I can have a ton of books, pdfs, or whatever on that thing and it's easy to carry around. I'm not going to be editing 4K movies or running intensive Fortran calculations on it, as that's what a PC is for.
I can't see why anyone would want this 'functionality'. Sounds like the Essential phone is essentially in the toilet and he's just working on silly projects.
I took a bunch of manually entered commands (mkdir, cp x y, etc.) and scripted the process. What would take 10-15 minutes manually (10-15 times per day) now took about 2 seconds. There weren't any negative repercussions and the tech lead had zero problems with what I did.
Of course, there were other tasks to be done so I didn't automate my entire job, but I was able to significantly reduce manual tasks and move onto other more important stuff.
I guess those folks who spend multiple hours working for free don't value their time much. It's one thing to volunteer at the local animal shelter, for example, but what actually does Reddit contribute to society?
I'm all for cord-cutting and 'sticking it to the man', but I would spend almost as much for single services such as HBO, Netflix, etc. (10-15$/month for each service) that I do currently for FiOS.
I hope you got paid extra for that silliness. Seriously, a laptop while you're in a park?? I'm all for proving your worth to your employer, but that seems a bit far. I could see a cellphone and that's as far as I would go.
The image was in unallocated disk space so it would presumably take "expensive and sophisticated" file carving tools to retrieve it. I could see if the image was visible upon casual browsing, but it appears that the Geek Squad/FBI went way over in locating these files and issuing warrants after the fact.

Who, honestly, would think it's a good idea to let delivery drivers INTO YOUR HOUSE? In what Mayberry-like universe is this a good idea? I'm perfectly fine with UPS or whoever leaving the package at the side garage or at the front door. In no shape or form do I want or need a driver depositing the package in my foyer. I get all of the IoT madness but this is extremely over the top and doesn't come remotely close to a good idea.

Shocker! Nintendo can't fulfill orders for XYZ gaming system. After the recent NES classic device that was nowhere to be seen, save for a handful of price gougers, I don't even bother getting spun up about Nintendo's issues. I don't care about anything they have to offer. If I need to play Donkey Kong or Mario Brothers, I'll spin up an emulator and go to town.
I don't get why you would file a lawsuit for something like this. Just call Showtime and they'll give you your 99$ back. Done. End of story. If this ever reaches a judge, it should be laughed out of court and kick the lawyer in the pants for accepting such a stupid case.
That guy does have a valid point in 2017 even. I've thought about cutting the FiOS cord but you'll get nickel and dimed for XYZ streaming service that it's just easier to keep cable. Sure you could have Netflix for movies (old ones), Hulu and/or Sling for current TV shows but what about local sports? Let's hope you have an OTA antenna that picks up the local games.
By the time you add up Netflix, HBO, Hulu, and whatever else, you're almost at the cable price point. So why bother switching when cable TV, for one monthly price, just works(tm).
Are we still waiting for these mystery drivers/patches to make any new AMD CPU decent at games?
What processor do you buy if you want raw grunt and be good at games? Hint: it's not AMD.
