I believe that it's generally accepted that :
Haswell -> 110% IvyBridge -> 113% SandyBridge -> 125% Nehalem
not counting special cases such as AVX2.
Hence, a 4.4GHz 4770K = 5.5GHz i7 920, or ~137%.
If the trend keeps up, we'll get a 1-3% IPC improvement, and even less overclocking headroom with Broadwell.
It's absolutely disappointing that after waiting ~5 years, a fully overclocked 4770K (~4.4GHz) is only 1.37x as fast as a fully overclocked i7 920 (~4GHz).
Nothing wrong with a high GPA (4.0 undergrad, 3.9 PhD), as long as you don't play games to get it. I loaded up on classes, took the hardest profs, learned a ton, and established a solid foundation for future learning.
Not true. I installed a then top-of-the-line PIoneer Z110BT in my car back in 2009. Still works fine to this day (albeit upgraded via software to a Z140BH).
I realize that this is Slashdot and that it tends to cater more to those in the IT field, but the H1B process does work.
While definitely problematic in the IT field (with jackasses like WiPro muddying the waters), I don't seem to see much of an issue in a lot of other fields (eg. engineering). None of my numerous colleagues are paid below par or unfairly taken advantage of due to their immigration status. Most of them have advanced training right here in the US (masters and a couple of PhDs).
Fucking stupidity. In a lot of cases, the American public is the one paying to educate foreign grad students (stipend + tuition - federal research grants - joe + jane public).
So, they'd rather lose the talent that you paid for to China / India / some other country?
I actually get paid a little more than my domestic counterparts, and had my pick of employment upon graduation.
As a PhD EE currently on a H1-B, fuck you.
Felt much the same throughout my sojourn as a doctoral candidate in Electrical Engineering.
Fuck beta
Fuck beta /thread
So what you're saying is, we needed the extra runtime on VHS to accommodate Peter North?

Were the signs something about Carl Jr's BIG ASS tacos and/or fries?

What in the blue f**k are you going on about? I've never experienced this in Dallas.

Why You So Like That? ;)
Whoa! Funny you should say that. I got my doctorate in Iowa, and moved to Texas to work in the tech sector :O
I think he meant that in a tongue in cheek fashion, though what that tongue is doing, we can only guess...
H1B here and a PhD in Electrical Engineering (optics). Got a $115K job out of the gate, and in an unrelated area (mixed signal chip design) no less.
English motherf*cker, do you speak it?! The speak English in what?!?!
So which one was he? Fullmetal, flame, sowing life, etc?
Must be Bitcoin mining!
Sorry sir, you're the one spouting nonsense. I have a server full of Samsung Spinpoint F4 2TB drives that I purchased for $60 a piece.
Speaking for myself and lots of personal acquaintances, we all get the exact same prevailing wages as you Muricans.

For those of us using UltraMon, the "smart taskbar" thing is OLD NEWS!
