I don't see that "recognition" is achieved beyond being able to tell that touches were made and were "different" from each other - what those differences were was not demonstrated.
Buy a used iPod Touch (under $100 USD) and wire it to charge off of the scooters battery, then you can use "Find My iPod" service if the scooter is ever stolen.
Just hide the iPod someplace it is not likely to be found right away.
I think the government should close down Apple and distribute it's resources to all the Geeks on Slashdot which are trying to protect those poor Apple customers from themselves.
And if you were responsible to the stock holders of a multi-billion dollar corporation, you would do exactly the same thing Apple is doing. It is NOT Apples fault, it is the system.
Too bad you are less intelligent than the average iPad user you disdain so much - since the browser does have search and most know how to use it.
I expect you are either just trolling or demand that all products work the way you want them to - how your "other browser" works, so you don't have to learn anything new.
Ever play scrabble on an iPad with iPhones or iPod Touch as the tile rack. You don't "swoop", just a simple flick of a finger and a letter tile jumps from your device to another - describing it does not do justice to the actual experience.
"Seriously, what is the point of a tablet device? At the high school I work at, we're going to be made to use iPad's starting in April. I've played around with one of the test devices and I can't imagine actually getting work done on these things. I'm dreading April. If it were an Android device it wouldn't be any better."
Such a Slashdot like comment. Since YOU don't find a iPad useful, everyone - millions of consumers - must be wrong or simply satisfying a need for a "fashion accessory".
We, my wife and I, both have iPads and iPod Touchs. Each serving a place in our daily lives - doing REAL useful WORK. We are both programmers and would never consider programing on an iPad, but here is the shocker - there is more to life than programming! We play on our iPads, our iPads replaced our voice navigation systems, they allow us to easily contact our email and text our friends while out and about. We can make reservations on the road while out of town and away from out workstations. We use them for notepads and to-do lists, and a multitude of other real life uses.
And for "getting work done" - that all depends on what kind of work you need done. They are not workstations, true, but time will tell about where they fit into the work ecosystem - I consider them to be PDA's on steroids right now, but I also expect to see a stylus and something like the Newton in a pad format soon - if not from Apple, then someone - and the addition of the stylus will destroy the laptop market.
And don't tell me about laptops can do all that - what a joke, forcing a keyboard on me takes room and is awkward at best compared to the simple pad.
Finally remember this is a first generation device - Apple has a history of releasing the minimum device possible to start - that allows then to double dip with the faithful buying later "improved" models, and to wait and see what the market says is needed, rather than trying to second guess every detail on the initial release - the strategy seems to work.
Not too many years ago I was VP of Engineering at a high tech company. I was having lunch with the CEO and the conversation turned to those new fangled devices the bank had installed and he said, "Why do I want this, I am more than willing to go inside the bank". He of course was talking about the new Drive through ATMs. He said they would never catch on.
Do you also express this same level of anger when you visit a department store and find that they do not allow other department stores to place advertising brochures?
Sometime the hate and anger here get to pretty silly levels. It is APPLES store, they can and do sell what they want to in it. If they choose wrongly, the market will move on and leave them behind. And don't throw the monopoly bullshit out - there are plenty of alternatives.
Google Voice will not replace a phone - it needs a phone to work.
However, iPod (3 or 4) work fine as a cell phone when used with a Mifi, the only limitation I have found is that you can not pair a bluetooth head set with the iPod and must either use the built-in microphone (gen 4) or a cable ear bud/microphone combo. Line2 App is an excellent method of using an iPod in place of a cell phone.
Well, I would like to have a serial port, a parallel printer point, a scsi port, a HDMI port, a fiber port, a dialup modem port, a.... after all everything should support everything and allow me to make my own choice - oh, and I want it for $1.25... and I want it to weight 1 kg or less and it should fit nicely into my shirt pocket. Thank you very much.
How about if you only got paid for 50% of the hours you worked. Whats the big deal! Didn't you ever make any money for your work?

The End Of The World As We Know It!

Sounds familiar...
It's all in how you play with the numbers

Phoenix is one of the largest cities in the USA.

- Having to use a third party commercial "iTunes equivalent" because the iPhone refused to accept to take songs via iTunes, even when I had 2gb free

But you don't have to give it to anyone - of course they don't have to do business with you if you don't.

"Quantum computers based on ion traps will have thousands of traps"
Let me be the first to say, "Who could ever need more than thousands of ion traps..."
You got your mod points and didn't have to do anything except bitch. How about proposing a solution?
Enough is never enough, but we will find a way to continue to advance.
Before we had transisters we didn't have them yet either.
So, all the Lexus owners are stupid?

Who needs those pesky light bulbs Mr. Edison - over 99% of the homes and offices already have either gas lights or candles.
