Alright, so having a lifetime of experience with this subject compels me to comment. This article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depth_perception is pretty in depth. (Wow, I totally did write that before I realized the pun) I developed a cataract in my left lens at 6 months old. At the time, lens transplant surgery was not approved for those under the age of 60. As a result, my brain never learned to utilize that eye. More importantly, it never learned binocular vision. Hence, unless there are some staggering improvements in neurosurgery, I will always be without it. Of course, having never had the experience I don't really miss it. I assure you, however, that I can tell how far away something is. In reality the only part of depth perception that depends on binocular vision is your brain's own special version of triangulation. All of the other visual cues are more than enough for the brain to process depth. Lets play table tennis sometime and I'll prove my point. All that being said: I think that 3d gaming would be conceivable in a program that used 3d models for everything on screen. I don't think I have to tell the Slashdot community how unlikely this is. Or why. And even if it does happen, I'll still be up a creek unless they display it in a way that doesn't require tricking binocular vision. P.S.- I have a problem: When trying to picture how this would work, all I conjure is my Troll running through the Hinterlands.

I'm glad to see a Blizzard employee frankly address the Linux community in WoW.

Having said that, I don't know that a community moderator really has the authority to make such a claim. Please don't think that I am knocking the CMs. They provide an invaluable service to Blizzard's customers and my heart leaps at the sight of blue in the forums.

Blizzard's real responsibility is to Vivendi, and Vivendi's responsibility is to their shareholders. That's it, end of story, no argument.

"But the customers are what brings share value to the company!" you say.

This is true, but look at it this way:
The vast majority of WoW players run Windows or OSX; players are happy partly because there is a stable economy, relatively unaffected by cheaters; the in-game economy determines fairness throughout all levels because it maintains a direct correlation between time spent and rewards; in order to keep the economy stable, Blizzard must work hard to eliminate cheating; If Warden (Blizzard's anti-cheating program) looks at your system and comes back with questions, it is in the company's best interest to ban that account.

If we accept all those things as true, the outcome is inevitable. Because Linux users are a fractional minority of their customer base, losing them all today would not have a drastic effect on Vivendi's bottom line.

I'm certain that Blizzard will make some kind of effort to rectify any error they have made. Hey, we might even feel some love from OSS-friendly people amongst the programming staff. After all, those servers we all know and love are running... wait for it... Linux.

I love WoW, I've been a loyal Blizzard customer since Orcs and Humans. I truly do appreciate the service provided by the CMs, I find them to be a wonderful resource (Yes, even as a hunter.) I just know that the Linux community is not in any way a priority for Blizzard, I feel that it's a point anyone who cares to read this thread should realize.

Mexico is never going to be a better place to be a citizen of than the USA. The corruption is so rampant at all levels of civil service that it no longer matters what pressure we put on them as a state.

Even the citizens of D.F. (Mexico City) are stereotyped throughout the country as swindling charlatans.

The real way to stop the massive influx of immigrants is to make the USA an uncomfortable place for non-citizens.

We don't punish people who break the law by illegally entering our country. We don't punish the people who hire these criminals to staff their farm/fast-food joint/household/Home Depot parking lot. We provide for them and their children when they realize that, even in this great country, McDonald's doesn't pay the bills. We school them, treat them, feed them, and house them. It's no wonder we have an illegal immigration problem, we practically have a sign that says "Bienvenidos a los Estados Unidos."

These things are never going to change, and here's why:

The people that make the decisions for all of us want them here.

The Democrats want them here because they've taken the side of "Minority Friendliness," and they want those votes.
The Republicans want them here because the majority of Mexicans are Roman Catholics, with Roman Catholic values, and they want those votes.

And they both want them here because after they've bred, they and their progeny become bright and shiny American Citizens. Once they've whored out the middle class enough to create one soiled writhing proletariat we will all be equally put-upon taxpayers. And those taxes go to support the only livelihood politicians have, self-promoting bureaucracy.
