It's not insulting to call soldiers meatheads - just look at the IQ results of the average soldier, and you will see the blatantly obvious fact that the lower IQ young men make up the majority of the soldiers. Oh wait, you are one of them so trying to explain statistics just went over that meathead of yours!
There's the problem: you newbies tried to build your own machine. Whoops! Did you purchase a copy of XP, or were you (much more likely) booting off of an older box's OEM XP CD? Also, next time get an Intel chipset, I hate to be the one to break this to you, but AMD is junk.
Quote: "However, everything else I have works better on Linux than it does on their Windows box, but they just take those things as normal."
Everything else works better, eh. Like what? Your digital camera? Explain how this works "better" on your Linux box? Your keyboard and mouse? How do they work better? Your DVD-RW drive? I call bullshit.
You show me a Linux-installed box that does everything my XP (x64 edition) Dell box does, including playing games, surf the web (with zero configuration required after ISP made my DSL line active, I might add), remote desktop connections, printing, photo editing and I'll shut up. Until then, I cry foul to anyone who makes the claim that Linux is anywhere near as easy to use for such a wide variety of computer-based activities as a Windows PC. I will never forget my good friend, an expert on the PC like me, wasting 12 hours trying to get a modem to work in a unix-environment. I'm not sure, but I think it was Red Hat Linux, and I'll admit this WAS way back in '96. Still today, it's far easier and less time consuming for a home user to use Windows for everyday applications.
There is a GREAT series of novels about this (but whose central theme is more of Britain's ascent after Roman rule). These stories includes some great explanations of how weapons might have been made from meteorite-based ore, most specifically (PLOT SPOILER AHEAD)
God you "men" are sure whining about M$ activation. It takes about 5-10 minutes over the phone (even doing it in a noisy server room), or instantly over the internet. Wow, that was tough!
Like I said you are a whimpering little wuss, sniveling about legality. You think the war in Iraq is legal? Yet you support your country's actions over there (if I had to guess). What about Nike's child labor abroad? Oh, but that's OK cause you like only paying $60 for your Nike shoes instead of $200 if they were being sewn through the use of legal (by U.S. standards) factories, and not by 9 year olds in sweatshops earning pennies per day. What HP did is no different. I commend them for using methods (or hiring others to do them) that private investigators use EVERY DAY to sniff out the leak. You don't see anyone whining about PIs' methods, and the way I see it - the only reason this is making news is because HP is publicly traded.
now go fuck off, sizzler.
I didn't say it was their job to break the law, I said I support what they did. And fuck you if you think my comment is stupid, you little whimpering bitch.
If I worked for HP and depended on their stock options for (a good portion of) my retirement, I wouldn't be the slight bit muffed by management doing whatever it takes to stop leaks that may end up hurting the company through the loss of valuable trade secrets, technology, etc. That's the board's job - to raise the stock.
Let's see:
1. Macs are pricier (oh, but they are "cuter"!)
2. There are far fewer software titles available (especially games)
3. To me, Macs offer a much lower utility.
For #3 here's an example. I am a PC tech and was disgusted the other day when I couldn't even copy and paste (or drag and drop) a folder from a user's Mac hard drive to a Safari/Firefox-loaded FTP site. It prompted for username & password like it should, I authenticated, and the Mac browser displayed the folders, but wouldn't allow me to paste files. This procedure works like a charm in every version of Windows I use at work. To me the irony of this that Apple pretty much invented the whole drag and drop GUI, right? Regardless, they are touted as being so user friendly and this just hammered another nail in the coffin for me when it comes to Macs.
I'll admit that they look purty, though!
Maybe so,
but the orbital path and sun's temperature have remained VERY steady in the short time frame we are talking about here (when it comes to global warming increase due to man-made CO2 emissions increasing exponentially). So as SCIENTISTS we can toss out the very variables you mention as being so important, since they have remained unchanged in the short term.
Come on, are you serious? You (most likely) haven't even read a peer-reviewed article on the subject, and you are questioning their results' error levels...
Remember, they actually analyze the little gas bubbles for CO2 concentrations, the error level in these analyses is relatively small as they are taking direct measurements, not inter/extrapolating from indirect measurement techniques (like tree rings, or relative biomass deposits in sediment).
My point: You can trust ice core readings. Don't question the peer-reviewed articles funded by NSF, grants, DOE, etc; instead, question the stuff funded by corporations.
British dude
It's not the engineers, it's the idiot public's appetite for SUVs. I've lived (and driven) in The Netherlands for a 4 month span and let me tell you, your cars in Holland are TINY compared to those we drive here. Even the semi-trailers (lorys) are much larger here. America can pretty much be summed up by describing everyone as Texans - bigger is better. Bigger cars, bigger bombs, bigger waistlines, bigger idiots in office... you get the picture.
You think Bush doesn't control gas prices, especially the recent increase that has led to such high profits for, ahem, oil companies? Well, does he control which companies get the tax breaks/subsidies? No? Oh yeah, you're right - it's Cheney that controls that. And guess which company he used to be CEO at? Yup, an American oil company.
In 1998 when I was driving an '86 Honda Prelude, gas in Golden, Colorado was at $.78/gallon and less than a dollar average all over the USA. Now it's $2.80 average. And you are trying to tell me that gas prices have gone down during the W. Bush administration? You watch too much Fox News, my naive Republican friend.
It's people like you who are ruining this country with your unwillingness to accept truth and reason. Keep voting those fuckers into office and ignoring them tear down this country's future with ever increasing debt due to illegal wars and corporate tax breaks and you won't suffer, but your kids/grandkids sure will!
Yeah and in Finland (and Norway, and the Netherlands) the average distance driven is about 3 times less than in the US, or even more of a discrepancy if you do the math and compare country area in square miles (or square kilometers). So before you Europeans who live in tiny nations such as these whine too much about your expensive gas compared to the "cheap" gas in the US, remember that we drive far more than you to get to our various destinations. Economies of scale, baby.
oh yeah and our gas taxes don't subsidize NEAR the public services like in your countries.
"I was told Windows XP would be great, it's widely credited with being worse than Windows 98."
Apparently ackthpt thinks BSODs (blue screens of death) are a good thing. Seriously how can you consider yourself intelligent if you think XP is worse than Win98? Oh, nevermind I get it: you are a Mac user.
Is it just me, or does it seem somehow appropriate (considering our appetites for things large) that the American version of the bombe was 2.5 tons, while the British bombe weighed in at a mere 1 ton? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombe)
Anyone check this whitepaper out and notice the name of the file structure in the GFS graphic (Figure 1) Anyway, check it out:/foo/bar
I like that:)

"This is my point. Unless you are capable of checking for yourself, why believe one over the other?"
So, um, who exactly is capable of "checking for themselves" the beliefs that theologians have? You've just illustrated that what fundamentalist-types are capable of believing, theologically speaking, is based solely faith.
I love how you bring up recessive genes. Why do you know about recessive genes and their ability to result in something like darker butterflies? Because you believe in science (since it's based on so many layers of built-up evidence and what not). Yet science is telling you evolution is correct, and you don't buy it. So you believe in certain parts of science... you know, the ones that "feel good" or the parts that you can use to attempt to bolster your theological arguments, but not all parts. Hmm, sounds hypocritical to me. Why am I not surprised?
"So, to demand that this average citizen believe in evolution is to demand the same leap of faith as for that citizen to believe in creation. Either way, some "expert" is telling this citizen what to think about something s/he doesn't understand."
This is not true. The science behind evolution has been building for the last 250 or so years on empirical evidence gathered by a vast number of educated men and women. You don't have to be an expert to understand the concepts! Just think of your high school biology class where you learned about the white butterflies that, over a relatively short time (10s of generations), changed into black butterflies. This led to them having an edge on their white counterparts because the industrial revolution was coating their environment (i.e. treese) with so much soot, that suddenly being black helped blend in to the newly black trees.
There is no equivalent empirical evidence like this for creationism. Unless you count claims that the Earth is only ~6000 years old to be empirical evidence. Of course, the same people who believe in junk, pseudo-science such as this claim of the Earth's age are people who you will never be able to bring around with reasonable arguments about the validity of evolution's proponents' claims compared to the idiots spouting the junk science.
So it's moot to even bother trying to bring adults around, just focus on the children and on preventing junk science from entering the classroom people! For the love of God! oh, wait...
It's not insulting to call soldiers meatheads - just look at the IQ results of the average soldier, and you will see the blatantly obvious fact that the lower IQ young men make up the majority of the soldiers.

Yeah, but you can't jack off at work. Hence the "far superior" at home part of your post.

So it only saves as .mp3 (or .mp3 quality)?
.mp3 junk.
.wav quality only, please.
come on people, enough with
move along...

Yeah, the price went up when Dunn said she was stepping down last week.
Nice Police reference. Go Sting!

Uhh DVDs have been widely available since the early nineties, not just since '98.
Gawd this is so sad that this was modded 5 for funny. You people really need to learn to hate on something other than M$.
