Agreed. RealNetworks distribute a Linux client - in no way, shape or form is it decent. The video is choppy, it doesn't have any of the useful keyboard shortcuts xine and mplayer have, and it's so incredibly slow - even on my 3700+ processor it takes at least 10 seconds to respond to any command.
I just nick the codecs and play RM in xine, which works as you'd expect.
But don't think World War III is going to end anytime soon.
We are not in the middle of "World War III". Politicians use language like "The War on Terror" to create a sense of "them and us", and to soften the blow of millions of dollars and thousands of lives being spent chasing after some misguided individuals in the middle East.
Both the World Wars had incalculable casualties on both sides, and it's an insult to everyone who fought in them to describe what we've got at the moment in similar language.
Has anybody noticed the similarity between Microsoft and Google lately? Microsoft seems to be expanding into lots of different areas pretty quickly... kinda like what Google does.
Maybe they've realised that they can't get by on just a few core businesses forever, so they're taking their own Google Labs approach with the "release fast, fail fast" mantra...
Nvidia's driver code should be more or less the same
Nvidia's driver code is exactly the same - they've said that the binary part is just copied wholesale from the Windows driver, except with a different layer to interface with the operating system.
Good God, I don't know where to start with that. I'll just cackle inanely for a while, and hope that not too many computer-illiterate "Bible bashers" are taken in by it...
Google know they can't make it good (Read: no DRM), so they aren't doing it at all.
Once the music industry finally pulls its finger out, we'll see our gTunes (beta) within a few months.
Happy birthday!

I never quite understood how a square wave can be represented like that - I'm right in thinking that it has to be composed of sine waves, yes?
Nonono, sharks with lasers is nowhere near enough.
It's exploding vampire robot sharks with laser warhead vision, or nothing.
Standing water, you say?
How about "Mosquito bite cream $20, on sale to your left"?

"There's anonymous fucking cowards on this motherfucking plane!" Movie... when's it being released again?
