My house was build in 2002 and it uses Cat 5 for the phone lines. I've thought about using the unused pairs for data. Just haven't had time to test it out.
Hand-picked top chefs who say that they don't need a large pointed knife clearly don't make sushi, cut up chickens, or dice their own garlic, let alone have the same economic concerns as the average "man in the street" - it's hard to see what it looks like in a normal kitchen from the top of an ivory tower.
But isn't that is what a sous chef is for?? It easy to forget what you need to do basic things like dicing garlic, when your paying someone else is doing it.
Which is why we need consecutive term limits in both branches of congress.
I'm thinking 2 terms for the house and 1 for senate. Then maybe just maybe we will have a legislative branch that is more worried about doing what is good for country and not being reelected.
If you buy tickets months ahead of time, you used to be able to get good deals. These days, by the time the return flight becomes available for sale, all the cheap seats on the flight over are sold out because everybody is buying so far ahead trying to keep from getting utterly screwed by the skyrocketing prices.
I fly almost every week for work and have noticed that the ticket prices are usually the best two to three weeks out, sometimes just one week. Less than a week usually means paying a premium
Of course, the holidays are usually the exception.
Its probably because most people don't want to haul their computer out into the living room to hook it up to the tv.
Or that typical interface for almost every PC game is keyboard and mouse. Yes you can use a controller, but most PC gamers don't. Not to mention a keyboard and mouse isn't the best interface while sitting on a couch.
Of course PC gaming has always been a one person to a box thing unlike consoles, with a few exceptions I can't think of.
My thoughts exactly. When I worked for UPS in high school loading trucks we had to go through security entering and exiting. Any bag you brought in or out was searched.
Why can't they do something like that or at least have video cameras in the search area?
But that is why the only electronic items I put in my suitcase in an electric razor and occasionally my cell phone charger.
Yeah stars are pretty typical in most cities, and work well. At one point in DC there was talk of a purple line that would circle the city with only a few stops at or near the ends of lines that go into city, so you could quickly hop from suburb to another without going through the city.
Going into the city and back out wouldn't be bad if there was an express train to the center. But having to stop at every stop is painful. Upgrading the infrastructure in DC to accommodate is probably impossible from a financial stand point. There probably isn't enough of a demand to warrant the cost of infrastructure upgrade but it would be nice to have.
DCs public transit is only good if you are trying to get downtown. If you are trying to get from one place to another in the "suburbs" it sucks. For instance try getting from Vienna to Reston on public transit. It takes well atleast an hour and half to get 10 miles (about 30 minutes by car). Pedal power is good for this unless of course you are wearing a suit.
Also try going from a suburb in va to md on the metro. (thats two hours of my life I will never get back) DCs public transit is great if you are a tourist or work in certain parts of downtown where the cost of parking is outrageous.
If the purple line was to ever get built or express trains were put in, DC would have a decent public transit. Until then its only useful for tourists and certain workers downtown. Carpooling is really the way to go in DC.
Atlanta is ok as long as you live near it otherwise its usually just as fast to drive to where you want to go. Also don't forget how at least one county has blocked marta from expanding in order to deter unsavory individuals from coming out there.
Yeah its seems like its people that steal so much unused or rarely used stuff that they get caught.
If you are going to steal that stuff, limit yourself. Your employer will probably never notice. If an audit is done and a few old rarely used items are missing, no one will probably go looking. They will just write them off. Its when so much stuff goes missing over some period of time, then some eyebrows will get raised and someone will start digging.
As a previous poster said. Just ask, chances are you might get something. Probably not a garage full though.
Yeah that is precisely why I never played online poker for really money. Way too easy for a group players to cheat.
Hell get a couple seperate internet connections running to different computers and you don't even need a group people. Just a few low end computers next to each other.
I have to agree. I work from home every Friday and at least one week a month. Without a dedicated office I would get easily distracted.
In my last place, I didn't have a real office, just a desk in my bedroom with very little room for my work laptop & papers. I found myself on the couch in front of the TV all the time, accomplishing very little. Now I have an office with a big corner desk, extra monitor etc. Come to think of it I wish I had that kind of setup at work, instead of sharing a conference room with up to 7 other people.
Both places have their distractions. At home you have TV, laundry and other personal stuff. At work you have idle chit chat, long coffee breaks and pointless meetings. I think in the end I get just as much accomplished at home and at work, though I should probably be able to get more done when I am at home. But at home you miss out on face to face collaboration and impromptu discussions. Finding a balance between the two is the key.
Sounds like your friend needs to find a new school or prof. In 4 years, I never once had a prof check the edition of my textbook or if I even bought it.
Now I did have classes where the old editions wouldn't cut it, namely math, stat and accounting classes.
Most of my professors made it clear whether an old edition would suffice or not.
That information by itself is not personally identifiably. It needs to be tied together with other information in order to identify an individual.
I can randomly write down license plates I see all day. If I don't have access DMV records than I have no idea who is driving that car.
I am not saying what MS did is right. But an IP address in of itself can't identify a person.

Here is a newsflash. Pretty much every major domestic airline charges to check bags now. I think Southwest is pretty much only one left that doesn't.

Wouldn't be an issue, if they would just control their damn geese.

Out of curiosity. What are the rates like for the service? Comparable to cable and DSL?
um where does TFA say that? It sounds like its for new and existing customers.

Get ready for a big old case of nimby. A power plant doesn't sound too bad now does it.
Ouch. I did about three months of phone support for disk network. Worse job I ever had.
The original Red Alert is free now. http://www.ea.com/redalert/news-detail.jsp?id=62:.
I certainly hope you pulled your credit report after that incident.
Why would you back up a server for work, to a computer at your house?
um maybe you missed the memo. But the democrats have controlled congress for the past two years.

On some new servers. 50+ GB of RAM and 1GB of swap. I guess that is what happens when you trust HP to install the OS.

Or worse yet do you really want grandpa doing a 5 finger salute while he watches you give it to your wife on the kitchen table.
