It really depends on the state.

Assuming its consensual, in Va they sort of have a gray area. If I remember correctly there is a 3 year rule. Basically 18-20 year old can get with a minor as long as the minor is not more than 3 years younger than the adult. It's still not legal, but it is not a felony. Its a misdemeanor, contributing to delinquency of a minor or something.

From what I understand police real only charge this if the minor's parents press for it. Or if you do something public, etc.

(The only reason I know this is because back in high school we had some sort of seminar that explained a lot of states laws to us that we may not know about, like premarital sex is a class 4 misdemeanor in VA)

Video game violence is not the same as real life violence.

Some of them consume up to 7000 calories a day...hardly basic. (They still lose weight though) Also keep in mind that these guys are excellent shape before they start, and are also closely observed by instructors. I would also assume there is medical staff on-site the entire time too. The guy in the cafe was probably out of shape, did not eat or drink much, if anything.

RFTA. Oh wait theis is slashdot There are two issues at hand. The bill sponsored by Enzi has to do with imposing sales tax on goods bought in other states. The other issue has to do with not extending the moratorium on taxing net access. (Which is what the headline is based on. I guess if you are paying net access tax, you could say you are paying a tax to send email) Much like the way your cable and phone bill is filled with other misc. taxes. So this seems more like both sides want to raise taxes, just in different ways.

But then again I don't keep my connection maxed out. Cap the upload around 30 KB/s on torrents because I share the connection. Don't download enough things to keep the down stream maxed out on any sort of regular basis.

Haven't had any problems with them. I cross the limits but probably not enough for them to care, or make it worth losing a customer.

I think a lot of it depends on what type of retail. Clothing stores for example, training probably doesn't matter as much, there isn't too much product specific knowledge.

If you are selling electronics like in circuit city's case yes more knowledge and training will be required. But that has probably dropped of some recently as more and more customers are doing research before hand. Not to mention there a lot of high school and college students that know a lot about those products before hand. So the learning curve isn't has high for some employees.

It wouldn't surprise me if this might be more of move on Circuit City's part to dump some of their more expensive full time employees with benefits in favor of part time employees who don't receive any benefits.

I would be more worried more about the teachers not knowing what they are doing in Linux. Most teachers aren't going to want to learn how use Linux, and they certainly aren't going to want to explain linux to their students. No teacher is going to want to take the time to explain how to do basic things to their students. Students are going to want to know why their USB key doesn't show as removeable disk E: when they go to save their work, etc. It is small things like that, which may not seem like a big deal to you or I, that will frustrate teachers and students and potentially waste time. If the lab was for a CS class, I would say go with Linux, because the students taking that type of class probably won't mind learning a new GUI, Filesystem etc.
