  1. You also need to outlaw people bringing their lunches from home to work.

In fact, just outlawing grocery stores would really help out restaurants.

  2. Be honest... you just turned 18 and got permission to swear, right?

Hopefully when you grow up, you'll realize that the swearing makes you look less mature and less rational.

  3. You know that the US Military does a ton of humanitarian missions as well, right? Not everyone in the military are in it to be murders or murdered.

I always find it odd that people view the US military so poorly yet want us to stay in NATO and the UN.

  4. Change it to white rice and you can do that pretty easy. I haven't priced brown rice.

Heck, there are times I'll cook white rice with a can of wolf chili just to make that chili into a meal for the family. Cost about 3 dollars for the 3 of us and we have food left over for lunch.

  5. America has become a country where if you are rich life is good, and if you're not rich, you have the freedom to die in the streets.

Since the GOP views poverty as a moral failing, and wealth as a morally good outcome ... they basically view poverty as your own damned fault.

I make around 60 thousand a year, single dad for two kids, and am able to support myself and my kids. I have no degree but I work smart and I do well. I'm definitely not rich and am not dying in the streets.

Granted, my 60 thousand wouldn't get me very far if I lived in one of the liberal cities that had a 15 dollar an hour minimum wage.

Screen recording works out of the box for me with KDE in Debian. I really can't see how a home user would stumble upon CentOS. It also worked fine in Arch, Kubuntu, and even OpenSuse when I tried it many years ago.

Also, you think it's strange to need to have a password to remote into your desktop? As far as copying your config file, I've never done that. In fact, RDP worked fine in KDE in Debian with no configuration from me (at least going to windows from Debian.)

By meaningful action are you suggesting that people choose something else or demand that government forces MS to keep to it's old business model?

People have choices. I use windows for one game and that's just because I like to mod fallout and now fortnite. Other than that, I use linux for everything.

  12. No, the person you responded to is correct. Bail cost is set based on flight risk and severity of crime. This person was caught while attempting to leave the country. He also has disposable IDs.

The death sentence in California is not a real concern. The last person the state of California officially put to death was over 10 years ago.

  13. You know what's worse? We were cheering this portability change because we didn't want to be owned by our phone overlords.

That said, I prefer this and the possibility of fraud. Honestly, let's say the old company had to confirm the phone number change. How well do you think that line would be staffed? How much money and resources do you really expect a company to provide to say farewell to business.

Whenever I cancel a subscription, I usually get sent to a queue that feels like it must be manned by 3 people to cover the entire country. The goal - I'm sure - is to hope I get frustrated, hang up, and continue my subscription.

  14. Because the comment is meaningless. "Certain popular products"? Which ones? How many reviews where there?

A better warning is to be weary of items with less than x amount of reviews.

  16. Maybe it's a slightly different model number (like the TVs sold during Black Friday)?

Did you leave a bad review for the microwave? And did it get removed?

  17. It's a gag gift. Are you capable of having fun?

  18. Sure there are. If a product does what you expected it to and is built to last (assuming it's not a disposable product), then of course it gets a 5 star review. If only one of those statements is true, then we are at the 3 or lower range depending on quality

That kind of thinking is the same as never giving an employee a 5 star rating. I remember several annual reviews for my team going like this : Me "They did their job consistently and well. " My old manager "that is what is expected and should be consider average and rate a 3. In order to get a 4, they must do better than exceed goals daily. In order to get a 5, they must do better than goals and also walk on water."

  19. That works for people that have that much upfront cash. Not everyone does.

It's the same for healthy food. It's a lot cheaper very quickly to go to the grocery store to buy food but the initial cost is more.

Can't they just add a notification feature to the program so it stays active? I have had a few apps tell me I need to set that so it stays running. It's more clutter but it works.

I've had the same experience. No issues other than sometimes the play store version of some of Amazon own apps (like photo and kindle) is a higher version than the Amazon store. But really, the only issue on that was me being a bit confused the first time it happened. I'm kind of surprised that the app security signature is the same but that might make sense since they are both made by Amazon.
