I tried that. It's amazing how terrible I am returning or losing those dang DVDs.

Now if I want the DVD version bad enough, I just buy it off Amazon. I did the math for shows like Buffy, Babylon 5, etc and even with ripping the dvd and putting it back in the mail the same day, it still ended up costing almost as much as the boxset.

I don't. Nor do I think the coffee that Starbucks makes is remotely close to their cost. That said, I'm not sure your point.

I'd love for Google to shut down today due to their intrusion into politics but not for making money from usual products

Relatively few extensions need access to all of these and few bother to ask.

An extension not asking for that access is a different story of course.

Sure but 120,000 choices? Let's keep it real. That's not choices, that's spam.

I usually don't have a say in accepting or view spam. I have never seen 120,000 extensions

Not the point. The point is that there is no reason for most of these to even exist unless a LOT of them are malware of one form or another.

It really is the point. Every wannabe or up and coming programmer can create an extension and share it. If people see a value, they can install it. That is a feature not a bug

. I don't want to be on an internet where everything is behind a paywall. Most people don't either - they bitch about them. But that's where we'll go to at some point. $50/year for 90 minutes/day for Youtube, $100/year for unlimited Google searches that return back 2 pages of results, $10/month for Facebook, $10/month for Snapchat, $10/month for whatever else.

Most of the replies ignore your very valid point. I'm not sure if it's because they don't have a response or because they didn't read beyond your first few sentences.

Heck, California recently introduced legislation that Google and other companies will have to pay residences for money these companies make using their info. Google paying people to use it's search engine.

Honestly, what amazes me is that google, facebook, etc keep funding the politicians pushing these things.

I'd think that the only ones that wouldn't need access to the whole page are web apps and notification tickers. (I'm sure there are a few more but I can't think of any right now)
