    Your post fails the mention the reason that the "capitalist economic model" is failing to reach equilibrium quickly.

    Part of it is because of greed as you mentioned. However, The reason that companies are able to operate this way (and need to operate this way to compete) is due to the Chinese government having almost complete control over their economic model and artificially keeping rates low in their country.

    Fringe is pretty good. So is Mentalist, Merlin, Castle (but that one is getting tired,) Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, Blue Bloods (though I doubt many on Slashdot would enjoy this one,) Warehouse 13, and Walking Dead.

    Not all jobs can measure productivity in such simple ways. And some jobs require people present at certain times and schedule based on that - Call centers come to mind for this. Working as an usher at a movie theater, I was required to be present and working at certain time periods.

    That is a simplification. They should care about your product for the same reasons that people working direct for the product care: it is their job and they want a paycheck.

    You had business cards in middle / high school? I didn't.

    Facebook allowed me to rekindle friendships from people I hadn't seen in years. In some cases, profile pages help remind me on why I had not seen certain people in years.

    Why are the Medicare and 'health' series separated? If they were combined, as they should be, the line would show the dramatic climb the parent claims regarding 'health care.'

    The parent is wrong about the military. As the graph shows it has been trending down for half a century. You wouldn't know that listening to the malcontents on the left, however.

    So that the chart could reflect the point the poster wanted to make.

    Android did not use to come with Chrome. In fact, it is not even available unless you are using Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich. Even then, you need to install it.

    I get prompted as well when first using Chromium for which search engine I want to use. I believe the choices were Google, Bing, and Yahoo

    In fact, it sounds like the court would very much like to decrease the amount, but notes that 'nevertheless, the court is powerless to deviate from the DMCA's statutory minimum.'

    The judge's hands are tied here by the law.

    But the minimum is 200 not 398.98 so the judge could have decreased it again by almost half. As it is, it just seems like the political cop out "I don't like this bill that I am signing and supporting..."

    You're giving federal money to Europe ?!? That's news to me. As for the UN, last I checked your were years behind in your payments while being one of the main 'users' of the UN. As for Africa, when you 'donate' money on the condition that they kick out organisations that give out free condoms, then fuck you.

    I'm glad we agree on not sending our money to the rest of the world. I am also glad that I got to give you new information. Too bad we don't set policy.

    Well, I am sure most of us in the US would rather watch the rest of the world succeed or burn without using our money and resources.

    It should be an all or nothing process, though. No more federal money to Africa, Europe, the UN, or anywhere else. If taking care of others is important to us individually, we can donate to our Churches or non-religious organizations on our own.

    I am not a Ron Paul fan, but I am with him when he talks about shutting our bases in Germany and the rest of the world down. It is an expense that we don't need. The rest of the world doesn't seem to want us in their backyards anyways.

    And hell, I'm trying to quit smoking now....doing well,and not having smoking at place IS a help to me not being tempted, but still....why can the govt. ban smoking on private establishments like that?

    I quit after the health care bill was passed because I knew to pay for the increases, insurance companies would raise rates and that they would start with the smokers.

    I am not sure if you are against medical help, but Chantix really worked for me and some others at my job (and my mom who smoked for 40 years - I smoked for 15.) Nicotine patches and gum didn't help me at all (I just doubled my nicotine intake with those.)

    Not accepting the homosexual lifestyle is not the same as turning someone away from your Church. There are all sorts of sinners in Churches. No Church expects it's member to be perfect.

    Jesus did not tell the sinners to keep sinning. He did preached to change people.
