    Why did you switch?

    I use Bing at work by accident when I type something into the address bar for IE 6 that triggers a search. That is pretty much it. (We are blocked from changing the search engine otherwise I wouldn't even see it then. Heck, I can't even change the menus in start menu, but that is a whole other complaint.)

    I find Google results a whole lot better for me - but I imagine that is because Google has profiled me and knows how to tailor the results to suite me.

    My mom was a nurse at the county hospital in San Antonio. In the 90's the a lot of verbiage changed including calling people admitted to the hospital from customers instead of patients.

    She felt the same as you regarding that term..

    Why would facebook (or any other viral entity) stop trying to make more money, even if they don't need it?

    I'll take it further - why would anybody stop trying to make money even if they don't need it? I don't need the quarterly bonus I receive, but I am not about to turn it down. If there was a way to get more, I would take it.

    But honestly, the real problem is that whenever your side gets someone in that implementing the very ideas you want, you bitch that they did not go far enough. And that is really just a cover so when those ideas are shown flawed and not to work, you have already distanced yourselves from them. operagost addresses one of your critisms and your response is the typical "not far enough."

    I have heard Carter, Clinton, and Obama all be called right wing nut jobs and I love it as it shows just how full of shit the extreme left is in their calls for unity, moderation, and compromise. There is no group that is more "our way or the highway" than the radical (but calls themselves moderate) left.

    Just curious, I understand wanting a public option, but why single payor? Does the private sector really offend you that much? Do you really see people who have Medicare treated with that much more dignity than those with private insurance (I usually see the opposite.)

    Also, voting for this is not a Republican/Democrat debate. It is a debate about power.

    Neither side want to give it up because both side see the day where they are in power.

    I was against the Patriot Act from the start for the same reason I am against giving the government control over my health care. Sure the current guy might have the best intentions, but can you say the same about the next guy?

    Another option is going back to IE.
    I use the browser that gives me more features/performance/whatever (I went years ago from IE to Netscape, then back to IE, then Firefox and finally I'm using Chrome).
    If I'll find both FF & Chrome lacking something I "need" in everyday internet surfing, I'll simply switch browser to one that have the missing feature.

    This attitude is why IE6 was around so long with almost no competition. It is the same rational people use to use against firefox - "why use firefox when site x does not work on it." Fortunately for all us of - including IE users since competition forced microsoft to start developing their browser again - a lot of other people did not follow your way of thinking.

    Actually, I think this is already possible. There's a registry setting to specify the program you use for the graphical shell (i.e. what Windows starts after you log on).

    To get new customers? If I only care about getting an iphone and don't care about the carrier, I will pick the one with the better plan.

    You just need one company to decide they want to take the other's business and then the price war begins. For better or worse, no company is satisfied with only holding on to what it already has.

    Too bad they rarely build the kbuild package for experiential kernels so that users can actually install the needed kernel header packages.

    I don't understand why they even upload them when they are not instable due to dependency conflicts. That said, we are talking about experiential so there is not suppose to be a guarantee that it is installable. It really does feel like a strange effort though since anyone using hardware or software that requires a kernel module to be compiled cannot assist with the testing.

    The kbuild package in experimental is for 2.6.36 and I remembering being really surprised that that one was there at the time.

    This is a troll article that bashes one side only - according to your post, both sides on the mainstream are against it.

    This is becoming typical of slashdot and its members.

    I guess that shouldn't bother me and posting that it does just invites more of the same but this site is becoming the next huffington post and it really frustrates me. I really used to enjoy coming here.

    You left out actual examples such as whom is pushing net neutrality that is not also pushing the Fairness Doctrine.

    I am not stating that pushing one agenda should taint all of your agendas just that both sides are quick to paint everything the other said with the same brush.

    But in this particular case, yes, people who oppose net neutrality because they believe it's about censoring conservative voices on the Internet are misinformed

    They think this because the people pushing net neutrality are usually the same ones pushing to bring back the Fairness Doctrine

    Before people think about how stupid people are for making this assumption, look at all the reactions whenever Rush says anything. People are quick to assume what he meant rather than to listen to what was actually said (like the poster above stating Rush said the Chevy Volt hybrid only goes 40 miles and leaving out that he actually said Chevy Volt hybrid only goes 40 miles on battery power before switching over to gas power.)

    password recovery.

    You are assuming they start with an "allow everything" policy. If they start with a "deny everything" policy then "the set of regulations that all nation states can agree on should be fairly lightweight" will result with a very heavily restricted internet.
