Calling "less than $200" cheap is pretty absurd. Perfectly solid DVD players are flying off the shelves for less than $18 bucks at newegg. Why would someone buy a $200 blu ray player when they can get all their favorite movies on a player that costs less than a single DVD?

Well when we say "an XMPP account with someone somewhere" we mean an XMPP account with any federated XMPP server; any domain. Can you set up your own AIM server and add it to the network? Also, Jabber is extensible and has voice chat through Jingle, which is what gtalk uses.

Guild Wars is successful because it ends. The beginning of the game is attractive and then there's a huge incentive to just finish the stupid game already that you already invested time in. You don't realize how long the campaign is until you're neck-deep in it and then you really want to finish it to go back to Ascalon City and show off your fancy endgame skills. It takes only ~200 hours to COMPLETELY finish every bit of Guild Wars. Contrast that to wow in which the game is only beginning at level 70, far past 200 hours. Games with endings have that huge power to pull you along, but only the endless games can truly suck you in for long periods of time (profit).
