What do u think if some Indian (or anyone else who doesn't have same speaking tone as urs) guy is at your place and you are asking the questions?? They also wont understand what r u asking !! No one should be blamed in such scenarios....rather, be well prepared for the interview and pay attention to the questions what are being asked !!

well, if I am not wrong, what this discussion is all about?? I tried the link and I could manage to watch the video using Firefox + mplayer combination with the help of MediaPlayerConnectivity [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/446] extension installed !! Are there something much deeper things involved out here what I am not able to get?? May be questions about standard media etc.???

gotta give kudos to GMail. One of my favorite features is that it disables images until you turn them on.

well, Kmail also does similar thing. But unfortunately, no Kmail for windows. I really miss Kmail a lot when use Windows.
Thunderbird is also good but it hasn't implemented maildir format yet and mbox is a big pain in ass :-(

I dont have much idea of licensing issues associated with JAVA and GPL but I think it is going to change the things drastically. I guess all the difficulties in making JAVA work properly on a system is only because the open-source vendors can't implement JAVA so freely in contrast with other real open-source things like mono... I hope the JAVA will come properly installed on systems from now onwards and one doesn't need to dig around sun's website to download binaries and then follow some tutorial on internet to set the variables appropriately !

So that's, what? (21/4100) * 1,500,000 ~= 7,682 computers? It's not so simple. Think of the students who pass out these linux friendly schools. The computers may be only 21 out of 4000 students but the number of students who are getting taste of linux are 4000 (not only 21). After passing out of the school, most of them will prefer linux over windows in future as well [well, linux is addictive afterall :-)]. During my graduation, my institute were having plenty of linux boxes and very few windows and solaries. Even though i used windows for some applications like AutoCAD but for anything what was possible with linux was done on linux only. Same thing is true for all my batchmates....and until now, windows has never gained a place in my mind as well as my friends with whom I am in contact with. Think of these numbers in a little longer term (say 10 years from now) and you will come to know its effect on M$oft.

I don't think this has anything to do with the fact that they "teched-up" rapidly before online etiquette was formed. This has more to do with emotion-driven Korean culture. The word "fan" comes from "fanatic," and that is what some of the "fans" really are!

Or may be they get cranky soon!!

I have heard chinese students saying "Koreans get cranky soon after eating dog!" Anyway, whatever be the reason, I also have same experience with Koreans! They utter things without thinking!

How about "$sudo yum -y install package-name.rpm" on rpm based distros (Fedora for example) ?? This one line command can do all you want (installation and resolving all the dependencies). To fulfil needs of an average user, which is the issue of all this discussion, the aforementioned line can do all the things. For advance users, dependencies are not a problem at all. Along with this, just think of home much freedon linux provides. I have seen people without having any idea to get rid of some too strange and unexpected problems associated with windows....and these shits strike on worst time. They have no other way but to pray to god. My girlfrined often complains that her friend list is blank in her MSN messenger....and would you believe, her syster is using MSN-4.0 because it is very sheldom that she could manage to log into MSN-7.5 or MSN-live successfully. Dont blame internet speed...speed is not a problem at all in Japan. One of my Korean friends need to check his computation status everyday because his computer reboots autometically (running windows XP). I have run programs on the same computer (FC-4, dual boot) continuously for a month non-stop without any automatic reboot. At last, if you haven't yet, I recommend u that try FC-5 (re-spin relese).

if we see the past records, there also india have had some failures in the first one or two launches when they tried some new rockets...but soon after that, in next one or two launches they corrected the problem and now those technologies are working well (e.g. PSLV). This time also, they are trying something new and so few initial failiures are understandable. Soon in the one or two next launches they are going to correct the problem. Not only India, rather other countries also have had such failures...NASA's rockets, everyone knows about the disaster when the the guys were returning from the space station and the shuttle burnt away as soon as they entered into Earth's atmosphare, China's rocket launches...Japan's rocket launches are a complete failure till now...etc etc. Failures are acceptable in test phase and that is why they are called "test"!! :-) hail India!!

This is not more than a crap. Preaching indians after choosing america to live in. anyway, as far as comparing with chinese is concerned, i thing we are in much better position. I came to know china these days a bit more because I am studying here in japan and am having a chinese gf. What china is is only shanghai and beijing. All the money is poured into these very few cities. If you go to internal areas u wont find anything. Starving problem is there also...admission in a good university depends also on ur birth place.....if u are born out of beijing, u need to get 20% more marks than the beijing residents go get into same school...and many similar things. We dont have any such discremination by law. people know much more about india than china and it makes easy for people like mr.jarhead to utter about even after having incomplete knowledge....china is a not much open to get information about...u must know chinese language if u wanna know real facts about china...u need to know Kanjis (damn horrible chars, more than 10000 in number which are in use these days...u need to know more than 50000 if u wanna read any old chinese book, say 100 year old). it is better for mr.jarhead if he speak something after knowing the facts rather than after being ill-knowledged.....and it is much easier after being there for sometime in india...which he hasnt been in last 10-15 years i think...afterall america has shiny highways not made of cheap construction substitutes. Showing pride is also not bad thing...one should show the pride for what he has. But showing pride on others' shiny roads is a ridiculous thing to show pride about.
