  1. Tom Cruise is in yur house arresting yur dudez on Brain Scanner Can Read People's Intentions · · Score: 0

I have lots of 'intensions' driving to work every day on that damn highway but I never do anything about them - seems pretty pointless. But, even scarier is the idea of Tom Cruise busrting into my house and arresting me in an overly dramatic and campy way - ewwwwwww!

  4. WOW! on MPAA Goes After Home Entertainment Systems · · Score: 0

I am in awe of how amazingly out of control the MPAA and RIAA are. It seems they must really have their puppets in Washington tied up nice and tight as they seem to be the business version of an ultra-right wing 'KGB' style entity that are being given free reign to do whatever they want.

Can't believe what we are letting this country become.

China or the Bush administration's vision for America 2008? Today President Bush responded to this news, saying - "War! Terror! The American Way! Axis of Evil! Freedom! Democracy! Stay the Course! God Bless America!"

  6. Do something about it on Who Cares If Privacy Is Slipping Away? · · Score: 1

My company also got so mad by this that we launched http://www.safepeak.com/www.SafePeak.com specifically to try and reach out to the average consumer with a service that offers encrypted connections and IP masking so even your ISP cannot record what you are doing.

The fact of the matter is big corporate is eating away at your privacy for profit and no-one in government is going to stand up for your rights - they are all on the pay roll.

It seems our society is happily absorbing the attitude that only people with things to hide need privacy and if we think any other way then we're un-patriotic, anti-American or a terrorist.

I'm sorry if this is a blatant plug, we feel that you shouldn't be called guilty just because you want your privacy protected.

Man, I'm sure glad we're fighting against all those 'evil' countries who use religious 'morals & values' to leverage their political agendas for a privelaged few who conveniently flout and change the laws of the land while stripping away 'basic human rights' of their citizens. Oh wait a minute.....

  9. Vinyl was more than quality obsessed on Analog Revival Means Vinyl Will Outlive CD · · Score: 1

Vinyl was Vinyl and people loved it because it brought music to their homes - with that came the romance of the concept, they weren't obsessed with quality of sound (at a general population level) because it's all there really was for a long time.

Now with so many formats in the mix, it all becomes about numbers, dollars and one-upping the competition, creating a sterile, throw-away user experience.

It's hardly suprising that people still look at Vinyl with such fondness as it still remains embedded with those positive memories.

People who never grew up with that experience have sadly missed out on it and will never understand it, which is a shame, because they are missing out on a true 'product experience' something very rarely seen these days.

  10. 1080p Projectors $5k on Xbox 360 adds 1080p Support · · Score: 1

There were multiple 1080p projectors at CEDIA recently retailing for under $5k. It wsn't that long ago that people were happily paying nearly $4k for 50" DLP HDTV's at 720p and Plasmas. You'll see 1080p below $3k before the end of 2007 and when you consider how many PC gamers are already playing at 1600x1200 HD gaming is far from a new or expensive option. As usual the marketing bandwagon has people thinking what they want them to think so they can get them to part with their cash. PS3 or XBox + 1080p TV for hi def gaming - $4k - $5k Dell desktop bundle + Nvidia GT7950 for hi def gaming - $1200 Not listening to marketing and thiking for yourself - priceless

  11. Pointless on The Drawbacks of Anonymous Surfing · · Score: 1

If people are going to write tech articles you'd think that they would have some idea of what they are talking about. Hiding an IP address doesn't mean anything when your ISP is keeping a nice fat log of everything that goes through your account 'just in case'. You need to encrypt and mask if you're going to do it properly. You can use a service like safepeak which has encrypted VPN and IP masking, it's not free but you get what you pay for I guess - every free service I have ever tried has been slower than an asthmatic sloth. Do your research before writing about a subject.

  12. Because that's not already happening - eesh on No Full HD Playback for 32-bit Vista · · Score: 1

The whole HD video scene has been thriving for years all over the net, especially in China. Hardly anyone who is viewing 'unlicensed' HD video is using any MicroSoft based directshow filters or codecs to view the content as they suck on levels unimaginable by the mere mortal mind.

There is already a huge catalog of open-source and third party support that plays HD content with great performance and can be installed on either x32 x86 or x64 systems so I'm not sure what this is supposed to solve.

Maybe we haven't yet heard about the reporting backdoor scripts in Vista paid for by the MPAA and RIAA. They inconspicously hide behind the trashcan on your desktop and peek at what you're watching (Why do you think Vista has such big icons?)

Ok now this is getting interesting...

If one player can operate more than one controller we can have them strapped to our hands and feet for some virtual Tekken - oh yeah!!!! Invite your friends over and you can compete against each other in non-contact violence - sweet!!!!

Although I can see emergency rooms full of over-zealous gamers with all kinds of injuries through rapid contact with standard living room objects.

Also, you gotta know that Nintendo are stocking up on replacement controllers - how many of those things are going to end up in splintered pieces.
