Fact is, today, anything that has the prefix "Google" is wanted by everybody, even useless stuff. Stuff nobody would never ever need, like a couple friends that downloaded Google Earth. What for? See Niagara Falls from the top? Yes I know, nobody never did something like that but still useless, atleast for me
me. I like slashdot mostly because there is always somebody to dig the news for you;) Ok thats lazy, but think about the hard part as reading the slashdotters comment and we'll see!

If it's your job to manipulate images, then why wouldn't you want to have the best (in my opinion) image editing software? I mean it pays itself after some time.
If you are a student you get a big discount; Why not then?
If you are a teacher you still get a discount + it's your job right?
If you don't fit in the above categories, why would you buy it then?
I wonder what would happen if in like a month or two AMD undercover some *new* processor that is better than Conroe family. Well maybe not! But still, such a rush for everybody to get your hands in one that makes me think twice before rushing to the stores.

Also what makes you think also that AMD + ATI means Intel + nVidia? Nothing so far other than speculation . Nobody gave any real evidence about it.
