The collection of tools that make up AJAX are as well integrated and easy to work with as the collection of pseudo autonomous regions of North America that make up the United States.
In this case the problem is with the sys admin not windows. Too many people allow IIS to run with admin privilages, but there is *no* reason to do so. Never ever ever! Anyone who says different wants to sell you more services.;-)
That's the 'standard' but there are a million and one extensions that actually make SQL usable in a modern context. Standard SQL just does not cut it any more. The problem is the extension between mySQL, Oracle, MSSQL etc are NOT interchangable. If you find you can do everything you need with just standard SQL they I don't think you are running any really big (multi-terabyte) systems.
No Xeons - MDGrape-3 chips.
We have developed the MDGRAPE-3 chip. It was fabricated by Hitachi Device Development Center HDL4N 0.13 um technology. It has 20 pipelines for force calculations which operate at 300 MHz at the typical case. The chip performs 660 equivalent-operations per cycle and has the peak performance of 198 Gflops. The power dissipation is 19 W at 350 MHz(fastest) or 16 W at 250 MHz(typical).
Bet it scales better than Conroe
Be very careful when downloading key changes - Most if not all contain some kind of malware. Even ones you think you can trust (and there were a few) are loaded up with malware, spyware, viri, trojans etc etc and then re-released. Go with the MS one. In-fact it can be run from the command line and is already built into Windows XP since before even SP1 was available. It's msoobe - and oh yes, there are malware apps that pretend to be msoobe;-(
I'm sure they would love to do other things now the 'giving-birth' bit is over.
We are expecting our first in March next year - I'm expecting my OSS coding to go out the window about then.:-(
I asked a work collegue 'why most women don't have hobbies?' She gave an answer I have heard many times - 'Woman don't need hobbies, we can create with our bodies. Men have hobbies to make up for their inability to give birth.' Then I stated 'But then why do any women have hobbies at all?' The answer stunned me 'Because they are barren, old, or gay.'
So apparently, Open Source runs on testosterone. Never think women are more enlightened than men - they just disguise their stupidity better.;-)
All object are made up of other objects, we've not yet got to the bottom of final indivisible component of the universe. It depends where you set the boundry.
In this case the boundry is there is no 'empty' space between the objects making up this object and hence it is one large object.
Naaaa - It's just a publicity stunt for the MIB III movie. It most likely was cheaper for Sony to make than Will Smith's salary.;-) Possibly even cheaper than a version 1 PS3.
We were doing this in 1989 with long free form responent answers to marketing questions to gain information about their actual preferences. Full natural language processing. We didn't patent the technique because we thought it was obvious - and we were too dumb to know how difficult a thing we achieved. It worked wonderfully.
Ours worked in Japanese, German, and Thai, too - I bet their's only works in English, and American English at that. Of course it took us several months to teach it the decoding matrix for each language.
I always think of this as the coolest computer related thing I ever did.
Linus most likely saw the GPL as a quick way to get what he wanted, but he then either failed to look at or was not aware of alternatives. It's people who blindly buy iPod thinking it's the best - look around and you find better can be had.;-)
So the historically bias C-NET declares Apple Newton the winner - wow didn't see that coming. (Sarcastic tone intended)
Ok, I think the Newton was better, too. But, C-Net is not the place to read such things - they think the iPod has good sound quality when actually the SNR is around 83db.
Transputers used up to sixteen cores twenty years ago and had plenty of scientific applications. The physical arrangement of the inter-core buses was important depending on the application. Scientists of all types (except maybe Christian Scientist) use desktop machines for experimental work. Expect to see 'dynamic bus reconfiguration' in the next gen of multi-core processors and motherboards. One config for your word-pro, another for your server app, another for your First Person Shooter. Can I patent that idea??? Oh well too late. But it is interesting to see Intel and AMD reinventing the wheel.;-)
Forget the debate on FF vs IE and WinXX vs *nix - otherwise known as the 'My dad is bigger than your dad!' department. The issue is that an exploit, however it arrived on the machine, is targeting Firefox. All those smug 'it can't happen to me because I use xxxx version of yyyy product/os' should see this as the beginning of an onslaught on all *nix and open source projects in general.
Yes, I realise this exploit was specifically on Windows but you are missing the big picture. That being an open source project went from a minor player to a major competitor and so became a big target.
You may feel safe in your (insert *nix here) OS but the end of that house of cards is in sight. 'But I know what is secure and what is not, and my system is harded against such stuff!', I hear you cry. Well, if you realise that more and more people are running *nix based desktops and most of those new users have and need only basic 'Clue' on how to run their browser and wordprocessor then we are looking at an ever expanding problem.
How long will it be before everyday users are downloading distros with Spyware built right into the kernel? 'But, I know how check a distro is genuine!!!', I hear you cry again. And again I say what about your average user - do they know instinctively how to check hashes on everything they download? No they do not!
Mark this date in your calender - the end of OS smugness is in site.
Video editing does indeed improve with processor power. But it improves much more with editing hardware! The emphasis on CPU speeds detracts from inefficient programming and the benefit of hardware fit to the task. It costs far less to buy a good video editing card than it does to retool your PC with a faster processor, new MoBo, different RAM (because the slot has changed from the previous MoBo). I do use my PC for video editing, but my MJPEG/MPEG4 card takes the load. I get better video editing performance on my AMD Athlon XP 2400+ with video editing hardware than my bare AMD X2 4200+ because the video editing card is doing all the work. In the case of V.E. lots of RAM and a fast fairly-large HDD are the most important. Maybe we can get DELL to do a VE specced PC with proper editing hardware - but with better margins on CPUs I doubt they will consider it.
I want to see continual improvement in affordable computing power, but I refuse to get caught up in the gush from marketing bozos.

;-)
AJAX as a whole has fewer bugs though.

No Xeons on the official list - are you an Intel Marketing Stooge trying to take the limelight?

It's not an ecosystem - it's an 3rd party add on market. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecosystem Why do marketing people insist on misusing language?
