    SP and ASP aka mpeg4 part 2. AVC/h.264 aka mpeg-4 part 10. SP and ASP are not different codecs. They are different profiles of the same codec. If a decoder supports ASP then it probably will support SP.

    Yes mpeg4 and mp4 are both patented. Neither is free and there is a difference.

    Americans have an expectation of privacy. I doubt you'll have an American declare his/her porn.
    Little tip for those who want to reinforce their expectation of privacy. Encrypt your document folders.
    Most customs techs won't know how to crack it and if you have a good password it could take years.

    The sum of an infinite geometric series is equal to a/(1-r) which a equal the first value and r is the ratio between the values. .9999..... is equal to 0.9 + 0.09 + 0.009 + 0.0009 ....
    The common ratio is 1/10 or 0.1. The first number is 0.9

    a = .9 and r equals .1 .9/.9 == 1

    This works for all infinite series with a common ratio where r greater than -1 and less than 1
    a = .6
    r = .1 .6/(1-.1) = 2/3

    Infinite series are great.

    This may actually sell more iTouches. It does not infringe on Apple's intellectual property at all. It's simply a peripheral that adds functionality to a device. That fact doesn't change just because Apple sells a higher priced iPhone. For those who like iPhones, they will probably not be encouraged to buy an iTouch and a peripheral. Somehow I don't thing the experience will be the same.
    How is that not appreciating the work of others?

    Oh no! people want to make money off of their work! That's capitalist talk, off with their heads!

    iOS loses market share and Android gains. Heres what I think is important: The invisible hand of the free market supports freedom and actually works against big companies like Apple trying to take power away from you(the consumer). You get the apps you want. Developers get to create apps they want. Only Apple loses.

    Rejecting apps is only the tip of the iceberg. Objective-c is Apples attempt to co-opt developers. This has backfired. Developers like freedom to own what they make and not be locked into a solution. I can use C,C++ and java on any desktop system really easily. Rejecting apps is all part of Apples attempt to lock you in. Conform or die. Resistance if futile.

    Apples attempt to assimilate developers will fail.

    Mach was designed to be a replacement for the BSD kernel. To say BSD was simply "Pulled in" is an understatement. It was modeled on BSD. Mach is technically a microkernel which is part of XNU. The POSIX portion of the XNU kernel is BSD.

    I run ubuntu 10.04, but I use a 2.6.35 kernel from the maverick kernel ppa. I need it because I have an WPC300N linksys 802.11n wireless card. The broadcom sta driver wouldn't work when I was running 2.6.32. It would be cool if ksplice supported more kernel configurations, particularly maverick kernels.

    Ubuntu has encouraged me to submit bugs and even maintain a ppa for packages I couldn't find on ubuntu. Ubuntu has encouraged me to contribute because the community is active and friendly. Redhat never did that for me.
