I can't speak for Mira's reaction (maybe she was just sick of being asked about it every 15 seconds?), but the reason she won't be in either of the first two episodes is that the stories focus on human characters. This was stated by JMS quite a while ago. If the first episodes sell well, more will be made that begin to feature other characters.
Crusade met its unfortunate end primarily because of pressure from the executives at TNT. The execs tried running the show and giving JMS orders about what to do creatively, which didn't work at all. It's not quite certain if TNT genuinely wanted to make the show the way they were telling JMS to make it or if they were just doing everything they could to sink the show. Either way, Crusade got killed before it had a chance to be good. I'm about as big a fan of B5 as anyone, but I would still admit that just the first 13 episodes of the first season of B5 would make a fairly bad story, just like it did for Crusade.
Talking about the US doing it is far more likely to result in nice men in black suits and sunglasses showing up at your house than talking about Saddam doing it.
Maine works the same way. I live in Massachusetts now, and it's just as simple. Instead of completing an arrow, you just fill in a circle next to the candidate's name. It sounds like the people that designed the electronic voting machines are those (in)famous software engineers/programmers that always insist on making things far more complicated than they need to be.
Anything the government was going to do you could do with your taxes anyways
Can you build roads? Can you build tanks and aircraft carriers? Sure, but (at least theoretically) it's a lot easier and cheaper for the government to do it, since they can do it in bulk. And don't bring up stuff like $2000 hammers; that's the stupidity of the current US government, not an inherent part of government.
Maybe you have your view threshold set too high or just didn't see the indentation of the posts correctly, but I believe he was responding to this:
It doesn't really cost anything to put in blocks on port 25 and only allow traffic from authorized hosts, like their own email servers and customers paying for that capability."
I'm more concerned that someone would have to read "several" books about it in the first place. It's what, one class and five methods that do at least 90% of the work? A competent programmer shouldn't need more than a couple hours, if even that long, to understand it pretty well.

I spent probably 20 minutes searching the music section at Barnes and Noble for the new CD. I finally found it in the "Show" section. I was really confused.

Dr. Demento's show was around before Weird Al ever got big
On the off chance someone didn't know, Weird Al started his career by having his songs played on the Dr. Demento show.

It worked fine on my computer (well, the DVD menu was screwy, but that was more likely my computer than the disc). I tried it in a DVD drive. Maybe it doesn't work right in regular CD drives?
I think the biggest problem is that most of the extensions I've seen on the Mozilla site are "Helps navigate the forums on example.com" crap. If you get rid of all of the site-specific extensions, I bet the number would drop down to 200 or so.
If you read The Passing of the Technomages trilogy of books, Galen becomes a far more interesting character than the small amount you see in Crusade.

Very well SAID. I couldn't agree more.
I think you misunderstood what he said. He wants a change, not exactly what already happens.

Hold on, someone's knocking at my door.

Wouldn't it be worse if that were accurate, and Ted Stevens really does know more about technology than half of the other members of Congress?

Who let Dubya get a Slashdot account?
If I remember correctly, the Catholic Church has publicly condemned both the war in Iraq and the death penalty in the United States.
As usual, Stephen Colbert said it best: "Using Jesus' name in a speech is small government. Doing what Jesus asked, that's big government."
"Understanding is a three-edged sword; your side, their side, and the truth."
So how would the CGI reporters be any different from the human reporters we have now?

I just thought those two sentences needed to be viewed next to each other.
