By the end of the decade, the world will have exploded due to either the fall of meteorites or total nuclear war.
There won't be nor electricity nor Apple nor Microsoft.
Did you see before the post-to-slashdot link at the bottom of the page?
It simply posts the story to slashdot, using the submit.pl page, filled with its story.
What do they expect?
That by flooding/spamming, their story will be accepted? It seemed to work!
Indeed, the story looks more like a sladvertisment than anything else.
These tools can't neither find all bug in your code nor swear that those it finds are real bugs.
At best, it helps to follow "good practices" and be more precautious.
I have been confronted to these kind of tools before and what I disliked most, and the bad understanding of project managers. They definitely are the only ones who get excited about it!

Another (though quite unlikely) explanation:
They just found out they couldn't find good enough algorithms to learn from this bunch of data and preferred to have zillions of curious people browse through it, and tag the corpus for them!
I'm not a kid anymore...
I happen to be writing my PhD right now, and as you may guess I shouldn't be writing this message! I can't help but think ubiquitous Internet access is not _always_ a good thing, and I think having no computer in my childhood helped me save time for studies.
With the multiplication of portable devices, I think it should be better to have no wireless in classrooms (but in the cafeteria).

I wonder why kids have internet access at school. Do someone really want them to have ADHD since childhood? Aren't they supposed to learn something while they sit in waiting to be online back home?
Thanks... It's exactly it. I didn't spend too much time of this, but thanks to Microsoft's KeyUpdateTool, I could change my license number. But... now I need to activate it, which fails because this number is supposed to be pre-activated!
I love copy protections.
Yes, the restore partition exists, but I don't want to waste three full days of work to restore it properly (I got a complex installation of MSVC + Ocaml + LablGL + LablGTK + some Unix utilities compiled for Win32 but without MinGW which is incompatible with MSVC, etc.). I include also one full day to update properly an old XP and an old (legit) Office 2K...
For the other reply, it's my only Win32 machine sitting around *nixes... and I dream could just apt-get dist-upgrade this f*ing Windows.
Yes. I am in the exact same situation.
I bought a used laptop on ebay (an IBM T40 for the curious), which comes with its legitimate licence sticker.
But, for some reason, the previous owner has reinstalled XP with a googled serial number.
I tried to change the key using Microsoft's KB instructions, but it didn't work.
Nor with several "tools".
So, I am definitely stuck or does a solution exist?
Yes!
I have another predictions available (commercially), at 20 and 50 years. The latter are definitely the most accurate.

Zatznotfunny, Zatzinsightful!
Yes, there is plenty of prior art. Sadly, IBM did it first:2 009-1082_3-269157.html

Coral _Cache_ is slashdotted already. Damn, after that you won't say screenshots don't attract crowds... even if they're fake.
