Studies have shown (forgive me for not backing this up with looks and such, just google it if you're curious) that babies that are shown a lot of love grow up to be more intelligent.
Obviously genetics plays a roll in potential, but so much comes from nurturing that it's foolish to think you can simply flip a genetic switch and have a prodigy.
I would contact my future employer and notify them of what my current employer is doing. If they are understanding of the situation I would quit immediately. For future jobs refer to the new company and have them vouch that the first company tried to blackmail you.

Just take a look at Germany. You can get a hefty fine for putting a can in the bio-degradable receptacle, but those guys have one helluva disposal system.
