Do you really think linemen are morons? What, do you think they turn the power off to work on the lines? You think they bet their asses that the circuit is cold and going to stay that way? You don't touch bare wiring in anything without assuming it will kill you and taking the appropriate caution. And trust me. Linemen don't accidentally brush up against wires. Doling so in that line of work can be deadly and will get you fired to save your life and those you work with.
Wow, I wanna live in YOUR world. It sounds like a wonderful place. You see, I deal with asshats every day that are convinced that their products are perfect even though the life is manufactured out of the original specification in the name of maximizing profit and damage only occurs because of improper handling or use. You should come to work for my company. The CEO would love you.

me too but what will you/I play 'call of duty' on then? I'm not buying an xbox.
As far as COD, they're all available on PC except 3. On a side note, I'm not a console gamer, but was seriously considering buying a PS3 after spending xmas visiting family and watching Netflix and BD on one. This will not be happening now. I wouldn't care if Sony came up with the ultimate dick sucking machine and had an exclusive patent on all the pussy on the planet. They have PERMANENTLY lost my business.

Way to go, Sony! If the rootkit fiasco didn't already push you over the top, you have now become the most heinous tech company on the planet.
I was running QBBS multi-user with FrontDoor on an 8088 IBM PC with DOS 3.3 and DoubleDOS in '86. And I thought my USR 9600 baud modems were fast and my Seagate ST-80 RLL was huge.
I'm a sound man and guitar tech. I have built (and worked on) more than a couple. The GP is WRONG about a fundamental fact of acoustics where guitars are concerned.
Both electric (we're talking well built, not Musician's Friend Strat or Les Paul style budget models) and acoustics both "dissipate" sound at about the same rate. The path is just different. With an acoustic, the sound is radiated by vibration of the wood and is directed outward by the sound hole. In a solid body, the vibrations are constrained in the wood and transfered to the pickups though sympathetic vibration of the strings. Pluck a $2000 Strat unplugged and listen to the decay (put your ear on the headstock or body). Then pluck a $2000 Martin and notice, that while the note is louder, the decay is about the same. If it's not, then there is something wrong with your guitar. It's the tight coupling of parts, type of wood, and construction that affect sustain, whether you are talking about electric or acoustic.
The invention of the electric preceeded solid body by a few years when the need for amplification to be heard among the big band instruments was realized. These were really not much more than an acoustic design with either a mic or mag pickup strapped under the strings. According to Aspen Pittman's Tube Amp Book, feedback problems were indeed one of the main reasons for developing solid body electrics. The acoustic-electrics of the time were real problematic.
And why is everyone tweaking on these "this ain't a real guitar" comments. Of course it isn't! It's a fucking midi controller. That's like bitching that a Fender Rhodes isn't reallty a piano. Jebus!
This is technology that allows the engineer to move off key singing back into proper pitch within their Digital Audio Workstation.
God I wish I had some mod points. I'm a sound man and that is some funny shit. I used to have that Farside comic laminated to my console. Haven't seen it in years. Thanks for the memory. And IMHO, Auto-tune IS a suck button. Thanks Cher!

Fido Opus Seadog Serial Interface Layer.
. . .these are very cunning linguists.
Just to play devil's advocate here, why should lock-down not be permitted?
Jailbreak != unlock

Congress can't do that, because it violates due process. We have to give "the bad guys" a trial. They are presumed innocent, until proven guilty.
Agreed. Violating due process is best left to the professionals.
Oh, now you're just molycoddling!
Are you also aware that there is no thing called "whaletank"
So what do they call the thing at Sea World that they keep the whales in?
a REALLY big fish tank?
Ummm, an aquarium?

You just blew my idea. Thanks a million.
I'm still trying to find reverse.
I've been building systems since DOS 1.0. Everything was stored in the root directory and we liked it that way! Now get off my lawn!!
[. . .] there's a reason for the M in MTBF.
That IBM is mean? Perhaps you meant there's a reason for the F in MTBF. Or perhaps, referring to the "Deathstar", you should have used IBMTBF?
The MeeGo was named by Jar-Jar, I think.
Intel, the company which primarily makes IA32 and AMD64 processors
(emphasis mine)
Bet AMD is surprised. Intel should be ashamed of themselves.
I am a cult member you insensitive clod!!

Yes, but due to the doppler effect, from your perspective it will be subsonic. Those ahead of your trajectory would most probably hear a "mouse fart".
Who writes this mess?
Um, Ted Stevens?
Harcourt! Harcourt Fenton Mudd, have you been drinking again? Well let me tell you something. . .thing. . .thing. . .!
So if the blender weighs less than a chicken. . .
