Do you think I'm a complete 'tard? If the same IP's keep sending chunks that fail, all of those IP's are from the same range and peer guardian fixed it, do you really think it's my NAT box that is the problem?
This was also only the case on one torrent and it was a public tracker that MD seemed to concentrate on.
You can hardly blame a doctor for prescribing an antibiotic to someone with no known allergies. Do you blame some food manufacturer when someone who doesn't know they're allergic find that out?
I recently found out that I'm allergic to a specific kind of antibiotic and I sure as hell didn't blame the doctor becuase I told her I have no known allergies.
A few weeks ago I was downloading a torrent off a tracker and it stayed at 99% for a suspiciously long time. So I opened up the logs and noticed that the same chunk (the last one) hade failed the hash check several times in a row. It was also evident that all uploading IP's came from the same block. I was stuck for half an hour or so and there must've been an pretty large ammount of spoofs because I was always connected to the bogus IP block.
In the end I "solved" it by getting peer guardian which blocked the relevant IP's and the download continued normally.
How do you make out mp3 headers from every torrent everywhere? How do you make certain it's not mislabled? It's the same problem that exists today just the opposite. I'm just saying you would get bad numbers. They would be better than today (if there was a central repository and it was used) but they wouldn't be anywhere near representative.
I don't non-infringing usage is that low among the general population. I don't have any data but every "normal" person older than 35 I've come across have no idea how to use P2P.
It's ludicrous because there's no way to see what's been downloaded. There is a levy on recordable media at the moment and that money goes to artists that are played on the radio. None of it goes to artists that aren't on the radio.
Perhaps if there was a central repository of music where it is possible to track usage but then they would most likely start to complain of thrird party downloading anyway. It's doable but it isn't and can't be accurate. Also all users shouldn't be required to pay, there are lots and lots of folk who only use e-mail and non-infringing browsing.
It's not rocket science you know. A laptop could be hard to find but a desktop is fucking easy. Just go to your local computer store and ask them to build a computer for you or you could find one on the Internet.
Or you could not buy a computer at all?
Are produce farmers forcing us to buy their products or are we choosing not to starve?
I don't particularly like Microsoft's way of doing business but they're not a monopoly and they aren't forcing anyone to do anything.
I disagree. Or rather of all libertarians in a non-American country most if not all (the non-nerds are usually more socialist on the economic freedoms) of them are nerds in one way or another. In either case libertarians tend to be the guys who are scientific, like logic and love empirical data.
Sweden is slipping on the toplists. This is most likely due to the heavy infusion of socialism it recieved in the 70's and that we no longer can profit from the second world war. My prediction is that Sweden will go totally down the tubes unless the state is scaled down. The taxes need to be cut to saner levels (it's currently about 60% for a normal person) and the red tape for starting a business.
How can someone who likes state intervention not like the American medical system?
If the lows are higher and the highs are the same is the volume not louder overall? The loudness setting is one thing but compression arguably increases the average sound level.
Isn't that kind of like the old saw "the operation was successful but the patient died"?
If there only was one problem you might've been correct but there are several different driver and hardware combinations that aren't working. The only common denominator appears to be Vista.
I live in Sweden and I just looked at my cellular contract again. It's an a4 size paper with really fine print on both sides. It says that my service provider is not liable for any damages unless the service provider is negligent and if they are grossly negligent they will also reimburse indirect damages. They have to tell me one month in advance of any changes to the contract and I have the right to cancel if I don't like the changes. There is an arbitration clause but it just says that I have to confer with the service provider before going to our equivalent of the BBB or the courts.
I'm not sure how much consumer legislation restricts what they can put in the contract but it looks pretty fair to me.
How do you disrespect yourself and debase yourself with language? How do you measure that? Do you have any studies that show people who swear more are prone to lower self-respect?
Are you trying to say that people tend to swear less in the 21st century compared to the 20th century? How did you quantify that?
I'm not saying that Linux or rather Ubuntu is hard to use, I'm saying that it's hard enough to use and Windows works well enough so you don't have an incentive to switch. With gaming support I can see a good portion of gamers switching and that they will start installing Linux on the boxes that they support. This would increase the demand for Linux.
I'm not saying it would have a gigantic effect but still a strong effect.
What does "drive the state of desktop computing forward" mean?
Are you saying that Linux is the bleeding edge of desktop computing already and if that is the goal what do you need users for?
Do you think it's realistic that gamers stop playing games and learn a whole new OS just to support aunt Tilly?
Do you think Linux needs more penetration in the desktop market?
OK. The situation is different and I agree that the doctor deserves the blame.
Don't put too much into my swearing. I'm not American and we tend to swear more and more public, if I offended you that wasn't my purpose.
I should've read your link before posting...

Yes, but the GP wanted to know how inderdiction could possibly work when all the chunks are hash checked.
How does interdiction work if the 99% thingy isn't interdiction?
For fucks sake!

Because you may have to sell the asset to pay a tax on the asset.
Our galaxy is called the Milky Way in English.
So is food and in cold climates warmth. When are we going to get food production out of the hands of greedy capitalists?

No, those would be in her sweater.
Somalia is not libertarian, it may be anarcho captialistic but not libertarian.
The countries that have come closest to libertarianism are probably the US before the 20th century and Hong Kong (at least on the echonomic side).

I wonder if there's a goatse font...

Doesn't negative correlation basically disprove causation?

I didn't imply that you shouldn't be able to host a large server.
I don't know what sophisticated gaming is but gaming doesn't take much bandwidth at all unless you're hosting a (large) server.

Who do you think supports their neighbors, friends and parents? The local Linux guru or the local windows gamer?
