  1. Re:Where's the Crisis!?!?!?!?! on What Is Your Game of the Year? · · Score: 1

Imagine if this engine was combined with the one used for the upcoming "The Foce Unleashed." At that point, all you'd need to rewrite the gaming history books would be a plot that rivals the original star wars ones.

  2. Where's the Crisis!?!?!?!?! on What Is Your Game of the Year? · · Score: 1

Having played most of the games mentioned, albeit less than 30 minutes apiece, I must say that I'm surprised that Crysis did not make the list. I can honestly say that it was the best game I ever played, and if god grants my wish, there will be endless sequels.

  3. Woot on 'w00t' Named 2007 Word of the Year · · Score: 1

Doesn't surprise me. I acutally knew someone at the SD ambassadors of excellence camp whose name was woot, because his original given name when he was born in norway was too hard to pronounce in english.

  4. XP/Vista on Lenovo Announces ThinkPads Preloaded With XP · · Score: 2

Personally, I'm just happy that they aren't jumping on the bandwagon and shoving Vista down our throats.

  5. Giant RC airplanes in the Sky on Unmanned Aircraft Will Test Air Traffic Control · · Score: 1

What is a UAV but a remote-control airplane, albeit much more expensive, complicated, and less likely to be in the control of a 10 year old. As such, it would make sense that it wouldn't need regualtion under the FAA, unless it was extremely large.

  6. chaining monkeys to a typewriter on Chimps Outscore College Students on Memory Test · · Score: 1

Next thing you know, they're going to be saying that monkeys chained to a keyboard can produce better reports than college students.

  7. Cyber War on Governments Prepare for Cyber Cold War · · Score: 3, Funny

I've got an idea. If two countries are arguing, each cultivates their best cyber warriors for 1 year. After one year, they have a giant multiplayer team death match in a mutually chosen FPS. At the end of the day, winner takes all. The only problem is that Japan and/or China will become the new super-powers.

  8. No Duh on Governments Prepare for Cyber Cold War · · Score: 2, Insightful

Alliances aren't being followed? Next thing you know, they're going to tell us that there were spies operating in Russia during the real cold war.

  9. Freeloader on New Way to ID Invisible Intruders on Wireless LANs · · Score: 1

Damn, no more free web-browing. But wouldn't it be easier to rig the hardware to only send a signal to a certain distance?

  10. Re:Get thee away from me on Violent Games 'Almost' As Dangerous as Smoking · · Score: 1

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that you're more likely to develop violent mental tendencies by sniffing the cardboard, which is more than likely made with lead in china, than by killing some stormtroopers.

  11. capabilities on Super-Magnet Sheds Light on Semiconductors · · Score: 1

Okay, so it can do all of that really cool stuff. But the real test is whether or not you can strap 4 to your hands and feet and climb up the walls. Only then will it be a groundbreaking design.

  12. Wonder why it took so long on Wikipedia Begets Veropedia · · Score: 1

I wonder why it took so long. But how long do they honestly think that it will work? Some hacker will make it his mission to wreak hell on veropedia, and soon it will be in the same state as the former. Not to say that wikipedia doesn't work on the average, but that it will be plagued with idiots who have nothing else to do.

  13. Re:The Not Too Far Future on Handheld Supercomputers in 10-15 Years? · · Score: 1

And after all these advancements, I bet the 2 highest uses for computers will still be video games and porn.

  14. Re:Why supercomputers? on Handheld Supercomputers in 10-15 Years? · · Score: 1

because "Handheld Supercomputer!" sounds better on the box than "Relatively small General Purpose Computer."

  15. Handheld Supercomputers on Handheld Supercomputers in 10-15 Years? · · Score: 1

And we still can't find a decent place to get them fixed when they're broke.

now now, there's no need for insu- , wait, my pirated copy of xp just froze up. give me a second.

or weird al's "Don't Download this Song", which can be found on his website. i think it's the best media out there that shows the consequences.

technically, we'd be paying in yen.

  20. Re:How much Apple and Red Hat stock does Bill have on Driver Update Can Cause Vista Deactivation · · Score: 1

5 bucks says that china and microsoft will control most of the world in 20 years. wouldn't surprise me a bit to learn that all government machines using vista suddenly shut down when china invades.

  21. security on Driver Update Can Cause Vista Deactivation · · Score: 1

on the upside, it means no-one can steal your computer and get much use out of it. But seriously, it's not enough that the freaking os will change your locks if you leave your house, but to have it do this? and the Microsoft executives wonder why people use mac.

  22. hell of a lot of colors on Bridgestone Shows Off Ultra-Thin, Full-Color e-Paper · · Score: 1

Well this makes me happy. You know, I just wasn't satisfied with the only 2000 colors available in the last version. This one really makes me enjoy color differences that my eye cannot even differentiate between.

  23. lot of stuff on one server on World Series Ticket Sales Overwhelm Servers · · Score: 1

hmm. lets think about this. professional baseball team. best season record in their history, best chance of winning the biggest prize in baseball(whatever it is) that they've ever had, and tickets only being sold online. yeah, they thought that one through.

  24. crisis in the making on What NASA Won't Tell You About Air Safety · · Score: 2, Interesting

add this to the fact that air controllers still use equipment that employs vaccuum tubes, which have an opportunity to break down thousands of time per second, we've got a possible crisis on our hands. I'd to think what would happen if all air traffic control was lost at JFK or any other international airport.

  25. near-collisions on What NASA Won't Tell You About Air Safety · · Score: 1

and thats just with planes. what with all those ufos out there, it's surprising as many planes land as they do.
